I enjoyed the Panderverse episode but I think they got the cause and effect wrong. Blaming Kathleen Kennedy whilst ignoring ESG seems to miss the point completely.

South Park hasn't changed, this is totally according to form. They got Trump completely, utterly wrong. Every stance they take is biased towards a perception not too far off from the status quo where nothing in America can be too crazy or evil.
I never liked Garrison as Trump
Funny how their portrayal of Hillary was not comical in any way whatsoever. She was played perfectly straight and a beacon of sanity compared to how they wrote Trump. They have long abandoned the "giant douche vs turd sandwich" thing and picked a side.
It's the same story for all literal nobodies once they make Hollywood friends.
I would have liked Garrison Trump more if he acted more like Mr Garrison instead of being turned into a knockoff.
Of course Panderverse missed the point. South Park consistently presents a vision of elites as feckless but also genuine and realistic. They kamikaze themselves through well-intentioned schemes but have the self-awareness to realize they're screwed and the humility to course correct.
This obviously doesn't describe a single person at the C-suite level. Kathleen Kennedy had a vision of endless Star Wars movies featuring younger, fitter versions of herself years before Disney bought Star Wars. She was going to make that vision happen whether the box office followed or not.
But putting too much weight on the theme also misses the point. It's South Park. "Put a chick in it and make her gay and lame" is the biggest thing that'll come out of this episode no matter how many trannies cry about it.
It's ironic that the Marvels was just released - sums up everything perfectly
And the execs have zero interest in changing course, seeking to double down with a woke young avengers cast.
This is especially egregious in Season 15 onward. PC Principle was a highlight of SocJus themes moving into society but ignored the larger context of how. Panda verse highlights Kathleen because she's a face and easy target, while ignoring how Disney has the ideological agenda not just in Kathleen but in everyone in upper and middle management at Disney.
To be fair at the end when KK comes back to the sp universe she says she has changed and is going to do thing different. and Iger says "sure sure KK we'll get right on that" which to me seems to say that they know it goes beyond kk
Saw something they did on Zimmerman defending himself against Trayvon and calling it retarded would be a compliment. They showed Zimmerman shooting Cartman and getting the chair because he shot a White. It's pure leftoid nonsense and NPC pandering. Anyone who understands reality knows what would've happened if Zimmerman had been attacked by somebody White. It never would've gone to trial and it would've never been more than a local story.
Point being that Matt and Trey are a couple of leftoid NPCs and anyone who still thinks they're unbiased is a tool.
Sure if you consider that they depicted Spielberg and George raping Indiana Jones, KK got off way to easy.
Trey and Matt are getting old. While they still keep a finger on the pulse of current events, they aren't going to be as in the know as they used to be. The weight of the world eventually makes a person less attentive to more minute details. As time goes on their views will get more and more surface level. I can't really blame them.. the crushing wheel of life is in constant motion.
The world that they existed to parody doesn't exist any more, and they helped.
I'd call it.
The clown world is beyond parody, everything the onion parodied 20 years ago had already came true
Exactly. There was a moment, I think, when it was going down the tubes when people from a lot of different political perspectives could see it and, like, drink as the ship sank. It was a moment, I felt like, before the normie mind completely divided by 0 where some sane people said: "Oops, look what we unleashed."
That moment is over, too.
I also get the feeling that both of them aren't working together on episodes.
I think Trey checked out long ago - he's more the business guy anyway
One of them has a daughter that does regular voice work in South Park now. If there's one catalyst that will turn a man into a mewing feminist simp, it's having a daughter.
I haven’t seen panderverse but I’ve heard similar criticisms. On the bright side “put a chick in it and make her gay” has caught on like wildfire. South Park disappointed me when they didn’t mock blm and riots or the hyperventilating over Jan 6 compared to the media coverage of Rioting
With the result of the Voice referendum in Australia and this - it does feel as if the tide, whilst not completely turning, has stopped coming in.
You expect them to do all the work? You think they can take all that and make it entertaining to a mass audience? As others have said, certain targets are "safe" now because they have fucked up so badly, mainstream media can't cover for them.
You have to remember Matt and Trey are pretty old now. They've always said they make stuff up on the fly and are obviously getting tired with Southpark in general.
good thread to repost this vid. Kathleen Kennedy was only a convenient stepping stone for megacorps to dismantle beloved male-oriented franchises
That, and the second half was a long riff on people like the Fandom Menace and Mike Zeroh who have made a career out of invoking the words "Kathleen Kennedy" since 2016.
She can't keep getting away with it!
I agree - but at least they are doing much more than any other TV show
