I lost sympathy when I started hearing about deaf identity movements that don't want to use cochlear implants because thinking you can "cure" their deafness is destroying who they are as a person. Same with the autists.
I've had my condition progress to deafness once when I was a teenager, and it was cured with surgery.
This attitude of theirs is one that I find absolutely abhorrent. I'd rather be dead than unable to hear.
Don't say that.
