It was NEVER a one way street.
While you guys were watching Daisy Duke, the girls had Bo and Luke (and teenaged girls would have very heated debates over who was cuter.)
Early Hollywood had the "It" Girl .. but it also had Rudolf Valentino.
I swear, the only ones saying this shit are fugly-ass lesbians who only want to see other fugly-ass lesbians, and can't judge either males OR normal-looking women.
They unironically think that stuff doesn't appeal to women either. They say tha it's either a power fantasy that's meant to be for the fantasies of men and the female gaze is good writing and good character development, while the male gaze is only objectification.
They feign ignorance when you point this out.
Noo the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, Bieber, insert the other 5000 boy bands, Korean boy bands, etc. are totally not sex symbols and it totally wasn’t creepy to see women 18-40plus talking about how badly they wanted to fuck a 14 year old Aaron Carter, Justin Bieber, etc
Around 2010 I worked in an office that was mostly middle aged women. There were tons of shirtless pictures of the Twilight actors and that swimmer (Phelps?) at the time on their desks.
However, the office with the IT department, all guys, miraculously had no bikini pictures plastered on the wall.
Haha, at my office at that time these two women (20 somethings, at least) had a Twilight poster that they shared--one week it was in one woman's office, next week it would move to the other's.
It was a bit tongue in cheek, but yeah, they totally wanted to fuck Edward or that werewolf guy.
Exactly
When women say they want men to show emotion, those boybands and teenage heartthrobs are what they have in mind: Chad showing emotion (but not too much emotion) that's all about them.
Or porn - excuse me, 'romance' novels, which absolutely dominates all novel sales in the United States to a disturbing degree. Like, 'over 50% of novels sold' disturbing degree.
Notice on the covers of romance novels they are never falling for a fat slob
But they'll make sure to claim that women are less visual than men when their ridiculous physical standards are pointed out.
I mean they made shrek, so it's not as though they don't have movies catered to fat lesbians.
