The recent one has the females getting their asses handed to them when they try to fight.
Which is interesting because the recent one is a love letter to the first one. Someone getting stabbed on a bridge, Ethan's sleight of hand tricks, Max's daughter on a train, hell they even brought back Kittridge.
Really? First one's my favorite by far. May have to locate the film.
I think if you like the first you'll like this one, it might be a little on the nose with the villain but I enjoyed my time with it. It was definitely infinitely better than the weaker entries.
I will say that after Top Gun: Maverick Tom Cruise is earning my trust as someone who knows what kind of movie I want to see.
Guy might actually undo all the damage being typecast as a "crazy Scientologist" did to him back in the day, for no other reason than mainstream society becoming even crazier and him now seemingly being the "sane man". Never thought I'd live to see the day...
The main female character is worthless at driving as well and inherently selfish at first. She also sicks a bunch of white knights on Ethan by pretending he is harassing her when he is trying to help her.
I hated her the whole time, especially when she left him to die on the train tracks, and then he doesn't blame her for getting the other one killed later. If I were Ethan, I would have slapped the shit out of her after the white knight brigade.
Haven't seen it. Been postponing it.
