I haven't had an issue with it yet. Then again, I'm mostly using YouTube for political/culture war content that hasn't gone on to alt tech but has been demonetized and is using in-video ad reads to pay the bills.

I don't mind in-video ad reads. Creators mostly put their own spin on things and try to entertain, and they're not running foreign, unvetted code on my machine.

same i dont mind the sponsorship/brand deals promotion when done in video because i know the creator got payed for it and work it into the content one proment example for a bit was a youtuber called greystillplays his former style of product promotion involed him distroying the product in humorus ways. my problem is with how yt/google does THEIR advertisments they plap midroll ads in that break content flow pay a pittence if at all and flat out state they will put ads on vids regardless of monitizaton content. that last one really irks me if your putting ads on a vid you should pay them regardless too. i better stop here we will be here all day if its youtube woes.

I cannot use the internet without ublock and privacybadger.

I had to use it on my parents computer one time and I almost had a stroke from how clunky and unusable sites have become.

The unfiltered internet is absolutely psychotic. Ordinary news websites are much worse than porn sites used to be 20 years ago.

I haven't noticed any ads. I also have a seperate VPN on top of Brave though, so maybe that's why?

Edit: just had an ad. Booooooo

Looks like it's been fixed, and the update will be rolling out soon.

Yeah, I had to install Ublock Origin to stop the ads.

I thought it was the phased YouTube update that started a few months back. This was a good reminder to keep video streaming under 4 hrs/week.

Freetube, piped.video or invidious is what I would recommend. I don't use YouTube or Google anymore in any form and don't even miss it.

I never realized brave shields worked on YouTube ads.
