It was a good idea to avoid mattresses before. Now, you can add UCMJ rape to divorce rape and VD on the list of reasons to keep your dick dry while on post.
I knew a guy who just narrowly escaped the old process. We became... if not friends, at least associates after I was assigned to his suicide watch the night after he was charged. We ended up at a lot of the same bases through the rest of our enlistments. It took him several stressful weeks to accumulate the evidence that eventually cleared his name, and he was never quite as open or carefree after as he was before. A decent guy, damaged by the process because he was naïve enough to stick it in crazy.
On the flip side, at the same command there was a serial sexual harasser who never got in any formal trouble despite a habit of literally pulling his cock out and showing it off. He was just black enough to play the race card, and he knew it. He was also good at picking victims who'd say "Kyle, what the fuck? Put that thing away, I'm not interested." instead of talking to command about his behavior.
I'd say the existing process was broken in multiple ways, but I have no faith in this administration or its spiritual predecessor to actually fix the problems inherent to the system.
The executive order amends the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) by transferring key decision-making powers from commanders to specialized, independent military prosecutors in cases of sexual assault, domestic violence, murder, child abuse and other serious offenses.
Sounds too sane for Biden, so I'm questioning how independent these prosecutors actually are.
If you didn’t instantly see these as kangaroo courts to “empower” women just as colleges “independent” investigators, then you haven’t been paying attention
Meh Duke Lacrosse was 2006, the truth is anything 80s and later has been government simping for women hence rape shield laws, violence against women act, etc
It depends on what the truth actually is with respect to sexual assault cases in the military. If they are truly underreported and personnel are having issues with the legal processes, then this could be good.
If this turns into a kangaroo court system like what has happened with colleges, then this may turn out poorly.
My thoughts exactly. They've insulated these women from the whole military. They just get to snipe people withput even having any prior conncection to the unit.
in the cases of actual rape this is fine. what I would be worried about are cases of false rape accusations. adding yet another third party to the mix who is not familiar with the incidents can only go so well /s
Sleeps with superior to get out of shit duty, still gets assigned shit duty... RAPE!

Pretty much, if this was made anywhere before 2008 then this would probably be done right. Now? It's a witch-hunt agenda.

Isn’t this a good thing?
I can't imagine how.

That’s cute, these are going to be kangaroo courts that make college sexual harassment hearings look kind and balanced in comparison

It'll incentivize the same sorts of false accusations we already see everywhere else.
One could absolutely argue whether that change is a net positive or net negative, but it's foolish to say it won't change anything.

This doesn't actually happen. It's a made up, bullshit leftoid talking point with no basis in reality.
