You may remember recently that revelations came out where people who were identified as lockdown and mRNA vaccine skeptics and opponents were being monitored by the Army's 77th Brigade and the intelligence services.
Now with the new CONTEST 2023 Home Office strategy (PDF) that was announced yesterday, single men, under the umbrella term of involuntary celibates, are being monitored by the Government as potential threats to UK security. If you're someone who's on Tinder and getting dates every few minutes, you're probably not in the sights of the Government. But if you're not succeeding on dating apps, claim the single occupancy discount (on Council Tax for lone residents), view content from the likes of Andrew Tate, Pearl Davis, the manosphere including MGTOW, you are now being monitored as part of this new strategy on the grounds of security. The other obvious groups such as Islamic terrorism and the far-right are also being monitored in more limited numbers.
Listening to the debate on TalkTV last night, the host and panellists (one of which was Jess Phillips MP, who you may remember from Carl Benjamin's tweet to her) are very adamant on pushing this narrative.
And with the recent debanking that's happening in the UK, we know that anyone with a heightened risk to their name is going to have their account closed and refused service from everyone else. We know that having favourable views on Brexit, Russia, Novak Djokovic (on his anti-mRNA vaccine stance), women's and men's rights and the right wing plus being perceived as a racist puts you at risk, now your martial status and being perceived as sexist can potentially be added to that list.
UK home office in 2003:
We need to monitor Muslim terrorists after the mass terrorist event
UK home office in 2023:
We have given up monitoring muslims and want to spy on innocent white people to search for signs of free thought
20 years pass
That and now the muzzies are the one dictating policy.
Had to diversify them a bit before they could break their racial solidarity.
When doing nothing gains you terrorist status, even the quality of terrorist is going down these days.
On a more serious note, the incel community is one of the community I expected to see the least amount of terrorism out of, there is not enough cohesion nor motivation for a more organized response out of that group.
Virtually all the violence committed by lonely men is against themselves. But that doesn't make a scary mainstream media narrative to create a us vs them dynamic to break apart society. They are desperate to water down the definition of incel to just single men (that creates potentially a few million threats as opposed to a few thousand in closed forums), paint them all as a threat to women and national security as a group and declare Andrew Tate as the leader (which he will denounce as he opposes them) which allows the generation of a moral panic and the Government to take action.
And yet even in their own reports the islamic is the major threat (although they brush the left under the rug as always) which means they already got too much power to use as wedge issue.
I read the strategy. It covers Islamic terrorism quite significantly and only gives one mention of incels - but a critical one for this topic. Guess which group the mainstream media dedicated their coverage to?
That is until the suicide is counted as gun violence.
And probably counted as an "violent incel incident" now.
The incel Community are more likely to get into robotics and build real life versions of 2B if they became organised than commit acts of terror.
That way they can be away from the society that despises them yet have some physical connection. It's sad but the alternative of some western women is worse.
hmm, A simulacrum would ease their pain, so not impossible, Could even make them rich considering the rest of society problems xD
Did not even know this was still active.
Yes, cannot protect the public unless we see it all...
That was the other thing that was being pushed, the demand for privacy to be abolished "for your safety" with the usual line of "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear" that's being trotted out for over 20 years to justify this intrusion into your private life.
I would expect another attempt to push for the criminalisation of Virtual Private Networks for residential use or at the very least, have the payment processors refuse service to VPN's in the UK in the same regard that life has been made difficult for porn websites to get paid.
There has been talks in europe of even further than that, To force phones and devices to intercept messages before they are sent and as they are typed.
UK authorities, stop validating the Imp's beliefs. He's one of those guy's you hope is crazy and ISN'T accurately describing reality.
Though kind of connected, isn't the UK heading towards failed state status? I heard a bunch of their ministers are resigning, the military is in a mess due to diversity quotas and the police are incapable of stopping any serious crime.
Yes, you're right in stating that many ministers are resigning and not standing for the next election which will likely be a Labour win now that Corbyn isn't leader. You're right about the military and as for the police, they seem to be focusing on easier crimes where those arrested do not put up a fight or give grief and are likely to result in a monetary punishment.
The way its going now - did he commit any form of violence against himself or others and is he without a partner? Then you have what would be considered an violent incel incident.
Because the definition of incel has been extrapolated and watered down so much that it could easily fit millions of men as opposed to thousands on a closed incel forum.
It's already happening. The attempt to suggest in mainstream parlance that if you are in a relationship, you don't have time to dedicate to video games hence by their logic, (console/PC) gamers are incels. Recently, there's been a narrative push that gamers are being radicalised by in-game chat and ramping up the violent rhetoric between one another that the media claims will spill into real world violence. No doubt a well known individual who we will disavow will be made the leader of gamers in time, if they don't just default to Andrew Tate.
The media likes to constantly bring up the case of Jake Davison. Turned out if I recall, his heinous acts were not linked to involuntary celibacy in a subsequent investigation of his motives, but the media likes to play cognitive dissonance with this uncomfortable finding and ignore it anyway.
Elliot Rodger?
I imagine the Five Eyes are watching everyone here then. Well, if you aren't carrying on like they are already then you probably ought to start.
I share your frustration because a lot of single men with no criminal violent tendency in their body are going to be caught up in this moral panic and in terms of surveillance, may not even be aware of it and would never consider themselves a criminal, never mind a perceived terror threat. Possibly many of them twenty years ago parroted the line of "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear" with a smirk on their face believing they'll never be targeted because they are a law-abiding citizen.
Most individuals don't understand about the issues of single men because they find a partner in high school or in their early adult years and just assume everyone is the same and anything that does not adhere to that path in life is abnormal and a threat to social cohesion. So much so now that psychiatrists have noticed this trend and are using the Andrew Tate controversy to drum up new business from single men in order to make money from them to "deradicalise" them and get them back into the dating game. There is also the recent pushback against the manosphere, most recently Pearl Davis is at the forefront of this pushback.
My concern is that if this kicked off in America and Canada before reaching the UK, then this will only spread to other countries. Problem is, no-one will stand up for single men because the concept of being single for an extended period of time by choice or not outside of bachelor communities is one that carries a stigma, something to be fixed and something to be ashamed of. Which unfortunately means no-one will speak out to put their head above the parapet or defend them.
Imagine getting put on a terror watch list for that reason. Embarrassing
The ironic thing being is that Tate denounces bachelorhood by choice or not. Tate is being made the "leader of incels" because the media assumes the whole spectrum between Tate and the black pill is one and the same.
Wait you got a link to where he denounces bachelorhood by choice or not. Sounds hilarious.
He promotes the concept of a man being dominant of his partner, he does not support bachelorhood as a avenue a man should go down in life. There's a reason why he gets no support from the bachelor commentators and communities such as MGTOW.
Holy shit. When you put it like that, it becomes clear that these people are against human rights. I mean, I knew that, and have known that for a while, and called out their anti-human agenda, but it's still interesting when put into those words.
Advocating for men's rights is terrorism. Advocating for women is also terrorism though. And advocating for whites (and now Asians) is definitely terrorism.
Lmao, the internet is a terrorist
They're right and they should be afraid. Single men have the money and freedom to organize and fight the government the best and they lack the liabilities and pressure points of family men.
Not British but if I was I would apparently be a terrorist according to this. Well to be fair even before this they would have considered me a terrorist with their previous guidelines they have had in place, so that's something.
