Of course this wouldn't have happened had there not been the assumption in place that the man is guilty no matter what. The only real shock is that the truth came out. I'm sure plenty of people would have liked to bury this.
Funnily enough she could have kept hitting him and he'd probably have taken it without doing anything about it.
But she really wanted these victim-points. I'm sure she thought, he'd take her ruining his whole life just as easy as he took her hitting him.
