Linus Tech Tips, one of the largest tech Youtube channels, suddenly begins referring to one of their male crew as "Emily" and "she".
I've been watching these guys for years, since they were running their server out of bathtub in Linus' house. I had already stopped watching the podcast recently because of some of the nonsense their editors would slip into the notes. Now they just throw some frosted tips on an obese, balding man and suddenly start calling him "Emily".
I am so sick of this bullshit infecting every part of the entertainment industry. I just want to relax with some funny tech videos and I get a [redacted] shoved in my face. I can't be the only one annoyed by this as the video link gets auto-deleted at pReddit KiA2.
Why did they insist on putting this guy in front of the camera in the first place? It was a pity gesture from the get go, even before the transjesterization. This guy is the very antithesis to a video host: morbidly obese, a homely face, awkward.
At this point they're taking advantage of him. In normal times they would have brought in a psychotherapist for an intervention.
He's very knowledgeable, and a guy who just explains stuff without being as highly strung as Linus. I don't think putting him on the air is in any way a pity gesture. I'm not pro-fat by any means, but I enjoyed videos in which he made an appearance simply because of all this.
That's just Clarkson aging, even Hammond is getting a bit chonky in his old age.
Watching the latest GT when they went to Northern Norway and Sweden, they all seemed noticeably to old for the old hijinks, it felt far more scripted and set up than the old specials.
Maybe I have low standards, but his presentation seems fine. Massively obese people are always difficult to look at. I actually though well of Linus for putting this guy on. When you start using fat people as models, that's ridiculous. Fat people presenting information is fine. Based on my assessment of morbidly obese people, they're dumber than average. That's one reason you don't see a lot of hugely obese smart people. But you see a lot of em with quite a few extra pounds on.
I feel that. I'm a software eng and I feel like I have to eat basically 1/3 of what I used to just to stay normal BMI. It's even harder since my employer moved us to work from home.
It'll get better when I finish building my gym in the basement but it's easy to see why IT people get fat.
Yeah I'm not obese, but I have a few extra on me. I mean literally a few, <10. It's really hard to work (ie sit on ass) every day and then go to the gym. In the sense of: I'll start the day fine and then 9 hours into it just be like fuck it I don't want to go to the gym any more and THEN have to finish my work. Some days.
What I should do is go in the morning.
I don't think it's any different from why anyone else is obese, though. You do even less physical work than many jobs where people at least walk around. But that's a matter of degree.
Anthony was very knowledgeable about both hardware and software. That is why he was brought on the show. No one was watching Linus tech tips based on how the people on it looked… people will probably stop with people calling Anthony Emily though.
I mean, it's a guy who has earrings. Are you really surprised that he is liberal?
I was actually rather impressed with Linus that when talking about politics, when someone was surprised that in Arizona, Democrats opposed a law helping consumers vs. Apple and supported it, Linus said (paraphrased) that politicians will do whatever will get them into office.
That was impressive insight. That is way beyond what the average normie thinks.
He almost strikes me as a Canadian who just hasn't figured out his country is going to pot yet. He is polite, tolerant, and doesn't seem to have it out for anyone. And I don't know where they are in Canada, but it doesn't seem like a total shithole. So it's kind of like he's hung up on Canadian socialism that may have worked at one point. Now that they're being invaded, it doesn't work.
It seems like the guy banked a lot of positive social credit with online geek community over the years, including with a lot of people here, and he still hasn't burnt it all away yet with his Twitter behavior. So people want to give him the benefit of the doubt and not believe he's the insane brainwashed liberal that he is.
Yeah he was really bad on twitter with some really authoritarian and malicious takes. He has said on a video that he has taken a step back from social media as it brought out the worst in him... but it was a mask off moment.

rofl, but consider the following.

Maybe there's something wrong with me. I dunno.
Jeremy Clarkson isn't exactly the picture of health and he's on TV all the time because he's knowledgeable and good at presenting information.
Comparing this dude with Jeremy Clarkson. What on ...

IT has a lot of overweight/obese people but that is caused mostly due to the job not really promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Linus was pro vaccine mandate and anti freedom convoy, he was pretty nasty about it on Twitter.

Oh, never seen him on Twitter. People do tend to be nasty there. The algo and everything encourages it. It's one reason I don't go there much.

What the fuck is he talking about? When, in 2020, did "miscegenation" become criminalized?
...
WAIT, That was about George Floyd????
Are you fucking retarded?
Well he's Canadian so yes he is fucking retarded. They all are.
