That is very much true. They also fell extremely far behind on the gear side, as is becoming obvious with the lack of optics for rifles, outdated tanks being used, the very sporadic use of missiles, etc. Meanwhile, Ukraine is using stuff that was considered outdated 20 years ago in the West and is actually kicking ass. They have done stuff with Humvee's the original designers didnt think was possible. And this is before they get to commit the new tanks and IFV's they got (which have been photographed running around).

I honestly wouldnt be surprised if this does end much like the war with the Finns did, except this time in a total Russia loss instead of just a pyrrhic victory (since Ukraine is getting support the Finns never got).

I don't think Ukraine can win as worst case scenario, Russia will just start scorched earth than try to win battles, especially if an invasion attempt is towards crimea. They'd rather risk ire of a lot of countries than lose a warm sea port.

Not to mention from a lot of reports, Ukraine is running low on men to keep fighting so I think it'll be more like that war again, Russia wins but it's a humiliating win for them.

So is Russia. And we have started seeing more surrenders and defections in their ranks. As well as more oligarchs back in Russia proper starting to say openly Putin fucked up.

I am not going to pretend like Ukraine has it in the bag. They can still run out of steam here at the end. I just think the odds they win are higher than they dont at this point (especially as they are now getting access to cruise missiles). And even if they lose, they will not be eaten by Russia, Russia gets only Donbass out of it (which is already depopulated as the Russians used them as cannon fodder), and you damn well Ukraine will become a NATO member while Russia is in no position to stop it.

It looks like Ukraine is gearing up for its counter offensive. Depending on how well that goes, we will see which of us is right in the end.

I doubt a "total loss" for either side. However it ends both Russia fans and GAE fans will say it was a complete victory for their side. (while actually a partial loss)

"We only ever set out to destroy Neo-nazi terrorists in Donbass, and that's what we did. Mission Accomplished."

"Kyiv is still Ukrainian and I don't see Russian tanks rolling into Finland. Putin lost!"

Kyiv is still Ukrainian and I don't see Russian tanks rolling into Finland. Putin lost!

I mean, yeah?

Is it total victory to lose part of your nation to an invading force? Of course not. But when the enemy is there with the goal of total conquest and they take on a fraction of it, and not even the most important parts of your nation (like Odessa, which will allow Ukraine to remain a viable nation instead of a rump state), then stopping them is a win.

And unlike Finland before them in 1939, Russia will not get a second bite at the apple (well, third bite, but still). Because you know damn well Ukraine is going to become a NATO member or will be in some sort of European defense alliance by another name. Unlike Finland who was left to dangle in the breeze until Germany threw some minor stuff at it when it invaded Russia.
