While I agree regarding the Republic crackdown being a disgrace, and the whole thing being a waste of money, a lot of people clearly enjoyed the occasion, and I think that’s ok. We really don’t need to turn it into another culture war/race war charade. Plenty of other occasions for that.
This is the first time in 70 years the dumb thing has happened. May as well let people make the most of it while it lasts, imho…
