The woman who had her shrink blind her because she wanted the social status that comes with a "disability" is the pinnacle of the narcissism that makes intersectional identity politics possible.
What's worse is the species of blind person--congenitally blind or accidentally blinded--who would refuse to have her sight restored because she enjoys being in a "differently abled" category. They get some sort of fulfillment from the identity of a blind person, belonging to the blind club.
It makes me want to just give up on the human race . . . no . . . I already have, but it's still both enraging and depressing.
There are parallels between this insane desire to become handicapped and critical race theory. We went from understanding and supporting disabilities to outright celebrating them, and the same thing happened with black ghetto culture in America. Instead of being an unfortunate reality for everyone to overcome, black ghetto culture became an unassailable and valid worldview that cannot be curtailed - not even by our laws or police. At some point, leftism always devolves into pure subversion and inversion of every evolved norm. It’s a war on reality, and reality inevitably punches back. The only questions are how long does the leftist insanity last and how many people does it kill.

No, that's not worse. Intentionally blinding yourself is way worse than being uncomfortable with improving yourself.
