Hasn't anytime the British did this, a country later became independent?

I mean it's risky doing it in the country where YOUR HQ is but let's see if this strategy pays off...

With the notable exceptions of “the home countries”, yeah, that is arguable…

Except Northern Ireland, where the Protestant/Loyalist population seem to love the increased boot taste even more, lol…

No they just hate the catholics more, there's enough religious hatred built up after centuries of history that people can focus on that...for now.

Suck my ass, limey. My ancestors came here because you couldn't stop starving us by stealing our food so Line Go Up. I'll bitch all I want about central powers taking my money by force

Those who fail to learn the lessons of 2008 are doomed to repeat them.

They aren't entirely wrong. Everyone trying to pass the buck but overall, everyone is poorer and in the end they won't really be able to pass the buck. Though, people are supposed to try to pass the buck because that's "market forces" at play that leads to optimum pricing.

People shouldn’t have to accept this. Their government is practically looting the economy to the point where it hurts the whole thing.

You're right in theory but the people want this. I know some people think it's just a minority but it's really not. The vast majority of people agree with what the governments are doing.

This is the same basic austerity stuff that inspired Occupy Wall Street in the US a decade ago, but I’m sure now if an American government said this you’d have half the population arguing that it’s “needed” for equity reasons.

So- same rationale they pushed for Covid…

Just accept what we tell you and stop being independent.

First. Fuck these banks. Second. I’m glad we broke away from the UK.

No. Arrest all politicians and their family members and force them to give back the money they laundered and nullify all contracts made with taxpayer money to foreign countries.
