LITERALLY. Boy when the CEO can't even write English good you know NPR has become a joke.
Defund these faggots.
I'm consistently surprised (though maybe I shouldn't be) by the lack of basic grammar and proper syntax demonstrated by people in really high positions.
I don't know if we ever really were a meritocracy in the west, but those days are over either way.
Maybe he's taking on bare knuckle prize fights in shady warehouses to earn some cash for NPR.
That would explain it
Didn't you hear? The fired podcasters attacked management with knives and baseball bats.
How about we stop subsidizing fucking NPR and PBS with taxpayer dollars?
But then how will gay Jewish and black “journalists” have a job talking about the hidden racism of minerals?
This is an example of how "conservatism' has utterly failed. They've been talking about defunding those gay commie propaganda outlets for at least 25 years and as far as I know there hasn't even been a funding freeze much less a cut.
Same thing in Canada.
The right-wing federal Conservative party was in power from 2005 to 2015 pre-Trudeau and left the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation completely intact despite its base calling for its dissolution or privatization from Day One.
The CBC in Canada is essentially Trudeau's PR propaganda arm now.
And the CBC here lacks the prestige of the BBC and the eclectic nature of NPR.
The CBC is simply woke, milquetoast and generic.
Your public broadcasting is worse because you're forced to pay into it directly, isn't that right?
Indeed, as long as you can freely stream content, why not just "cut the cable" as we say here in the US?
Just put the entire Mister Rogers catalog on repeat forever. I promise the generous support of viewers like you and the Sears-Roebuck foundation will keep it going forever.
Apparently asking old liberals to leave them everything in their childless will didn’t make them the big bucks.
FOUR PODCASTS? Oh no!
I mean they could always do a pledge drive if anyone cares enough to keep them.
They can use the value for value model. If the people want to support it, they will.
hope they all get their boosters.
We have more podcasts than any person ever needs, in every single genre, on every platform available. The supply has wildly outstripped the demand, and the only value any particular one has is in being headed by a unique personality people want to listen to.
NPR has none of that, and its laughable they ever thought they deserved to be listened to anyway.
finally some good news
Good.
The literal only good thing coming out of NPR now that Car Talk has ended is their old timey radio shows on Sunday night.
What markets have these?
I remember as a kid in Chicago listening to WLS FM's "Lights Out" broadcasts in the late '60's.
DC area, all of Sunday night is "The Big Broadcast". You get everything from Gun Smoke and Johnny Dollar to Our Miss Brooks and everything in between depending on what they're curating that week.
cool
They have to do their exit interview with Terry Gross and she asks their opinions on whether they blame the layoffs on Trump
