It's finally actually fucking coming out, and it's been a lot more than two years - The first demo they put out, the Unity demo that that got them $1.35 million in kickstarter donations, was released in 2016.

They then saw the fat dollar signs and promised console ports, and... that made them move to Unreal Engine. And then, as switching to Unreal Engine and promising console versions didn't delay thing enough, they somehow got it in their heads that they needed to 'update' and 'modernize' the entire game and completely change the art direction to... The most generic modern Sci-Fi AAA aesthetic you've ever fucking seen. They poured a year and a fuckton of money into that, and, surprise, when they revealed it, everyone immediately fucking hated it, with the backlash thankfully being bad enough that it gave the studio the a desperately needed reality check about what they were supposed to be making.

The redesigned stuff was so hated that it has pretty much scrubbed from the internet - nightdive removed every bit of it from their channels, and it's now almost impossible to find more than a few snippets of it, posted elsewhere in reaction to it.
