Very few steamers are genuine. They cultivate personas that function as idealized friends in order to generate money via parasocial attachment.
This is a very technical way of saying “no, those streamers were not actually pissed - they were broadcasting emotional responses congruent with the desires of their paying audiences”.
Same, the only streamer I watch the vods entirely for is Joel from vinesauce and that mostly cuz the guy is just funny. Occasionally I watch Pippas streams but I am mostly in it for the clips and long form edited content(like huge compilations like the hololive sports festival ones). Just don't have the time nor the energy to watch multiple hours of multiple people.
I think I'm mostly just confused about how people heard about it in the first place. Was it yesterday, or two days ago that it was first mentioned here? And my reaction was mostly: "Who are any of these people?" And then there was all the praising of this pikamee person, talking about how it was a good thing(?) that she had introduced the "v-tubing" movement to the West by knowing English.
To me, this just seems like another type of twitch thottery. Sure, trannies are all depraved degenerates and the sooner they 41%, the better. I'm hoping their reprehensible movement that centres around targeting children, dies as soon as possible in the most abrupt and violent of ways. But that doesn't particularly make me care for wannabe e-celebs.
I'd say Vtubing is different only because there's at least a skill barrier beyond 'flash tits and ass'. You can have the most 'seductive' model ever but if your personality is shit then you'll barely get a few hundred viewers
On the flipside, you could be a literal PNG of a cartoon worm and get thousands of viewers because of personality and actually be entertaining. And at least they are more honest than ethots by clearly stating 'I'm not for kids, 18+ stream' unlike the tittty streamers.
The only reason those "vtuber" things exist is because extremely ugly people saw all of the onlyfans stuff the women were doing there and wanted a cut of the action. 30 years ago the extremely unattractive would go onto careers like pizza making/government customer service. Now they are so lazy that they'd rather make 1/50th of the cash sitting in front of a camera talking about how harry potter is racist while pretending to be a 5yr old girl.
Do people here really spend time watching twitch streamers and "vtubers"?
Yo.
I don't watch the full streams, but the various clip compilations are honestly funny.
The reactions among some of the streamers to this entire brouhaha has been, well... some of them have gotten really, really pissed.
It'll be interesting to see the long-term fallout from all this.

I can't say I'm a regular watcher, but it's sometimes entertaining to watch people who are very skilled at a particular game.
Besides, my generation isn't like your LOSER generation. We WATCH others play video games, rather than playing them ourselves. Git gud.
I frequently have a stream open in the background. It's basically like radio, music and sometimes talking about a game.
