It is an interesting thing how suddenly companies being socialist is a good thing. Company towns are ok, so long as they're left leaning and talk about socialism. It's a new truck, and I have wondered how many people have caught onto it.
It's not a surprise. The Communist Manifesto speaks lovingly of feudalism. It starts out with just asserting class stuggles, and when you read it, you'd think that Marx might have sounded negative, but instead was simply being direct about how feudalism worked.
His criticism of the bourgouise is where you actually see the implied love of feudalism:
The bourgeoisie, historically, has played a most revolutionary part.
The bourgeoisie, wherever it has got the upper hand, has put an end to all feudal, patriarchal, idyllic relations. It has pitilessly torn asunder the motley feudal ties that bound man to his “natural superiors”, and has left remaining no other nexus between man and man than naked self-interest, than callous “cash payment”. It has drowned the most heavenly ecstasies of religious fervour, of chivalrous enthusiasm, of philistine sentimentalism, in the icy water of egotistical calculation. It has resolved personal worth into exchange value, and in place of the numberless indefeasible chartered freedoms, has set up that single, unconscionable freedom — Free Trade. In one word, for exploitation, veiled by religious and political illusions, it has substituted naked, shameless, direct, brutal exploitation.
The bourgeoisie has stripped of its halo every occupation hitherto honoured and looked up to with reverent awe. It has converted the physician, the lawyer, the priest, the poet, the man of science, into its paid wage labourers. The bourgeoisie has torn away from the family its sentimental veil, and has reduced the family relation to a mere money relation.
Socialism never criticized feudalism. It criticized free markets for destroying feudalism, and the unquestioned bonds of loyalty, status, and obligation that the socialist wants to receive from others.
None of them. Communists were one of the leading agitators in the Coal Wars where miners and company town security would get into deadly gun battles. "16 Tons" was made in reference to the deprivation living in a company town.
But, re-name them "Corporate Campuses", and leave out some avacados, and all of the sudden the Left will shit themselves with excitement.
They were always private intelligence and security agencies. Truth is, public safety is as much of a con game as public schooling and public healthcare.
The purpose is to keep you unsafe so that the state can make you dependent. Private Security is better (when it's not a fraud), and is outside of the state's control (which is why it gets heavily regulated).
Knowing how many Leftist are absolute midwits, I would not be surprised if it works because “campus” makes it sound “smart” and “forward thinking”, instead of just calling it a town.

And, just as socialists tend to, they're talking about socialism while implementing feudalism.
Funny how that always happens.

Makes me think about the Molly Maguires and the Pinkerton's. The private police force is now security guards, and they work at places like google.

Anyways, re-introduce the militia system.
It's always a protection scam, just who is pulling it? That's a good point.

That is correct.
"I'M ON A CAMPUS, THAT MEANS I'M LEARNING"
"How about: Corporate Plantation?"
