Does knowing that X is dead change how you view the plot? Almost certainly.
Does knowing X and Y had sex rather than dry-humping in an airplane bathroom change the plot? Probably not.
There are exceptions for everything, of course. I recall a scene in Borgias where the pope and a few of his cardinals had to watch his daughter have sex with her new husband to make sure the marriage was legally consumated. But stuff like that is exceedingly rare and most movies gain nothing from playing out the scenen other than the porn factor.
That is not a good comparison, it makes sense to show killing in a horror movie or war / battle scenes as it adds to the stakes of the movie but even then sometimes it is better not to show the actual death but have someone find the dead body while you wondered if that person survived.
For sex scene, is just porn and shock value, that was played out years ago by HBO so it holds nothing of value for me. And a gay fuck scene is even worse. Considering how available porn is the only shock it would be not including it.
There is also the fact that you can watch violence with your son if he is 15+ but there is no age where you would watch a sex scene and not be awkward.
Not arguing anything, I'm just curious why we're ok with that in general.
To clarify we're talking about explicit graphically depicted violence, not implied death or cartoon violence of the A-Team causing the enemy jeep to explode and all the bad guys are thrown out unscathed, probably.
Sex scenes should be implied and left for the viewers to imagine. It's always better in your head.
Infocom, creators of Zork, used to use this slogan: "The best graphics are in your mind."
And the second best will be produced by AI, and the internet will be flooded with them.
Wammin love to see people going at it. Right in the middle of their shows.
This difference is how each act affects the plot.

You said it better than I ever could. Bravo, sir.
That is a record setting leap. You're fucking insane.
