I remember Brent Spiner saying that a lot of autistic kids and parents of autistic kids found that the children related a lot to "Data" specifically because of his inability to process emotions, and so the conversations with data about emotions actually helped the kids to understand feelings.
That doesn't mean you retcon data into being an autist, rather than an android.

If anything, at least in autistic people, that can just create further hostility. Because speaking for myself, the constant goalpost moving and attempts to change data when the changes are both illogical and not actually backed by any data, is part of the reason I get so angry with SJW's.
Same applies to my my fiancé. Because while she hates the culture war and doesnt like the Based-side because she thinks they have a stick up their ass too often (which I cant necessarily disagree with), she hates the SJW's significantly more because she views them as actively evil and malicious people instead of merely annoying.
Yeah, it's a disordering. That's gonna be the real problem there. You want to really piss off autistic people. Move their shit and don't tell them. Then gaslight them about it.
"I literally have the spot for my wrench both marked and outlined! And you were the last person in my work space. So, where is my wrench assmunch?! And I dont want to hear 'you misplaced it', when I know I put it back."
What, is it so hard to believe an autistic woman would not behave like the crazy SJW's that make up most women? First getting together in high school probably helps as well, since she was with me instead of falling in with the crazies.
People who had to take Ritalin back in the day see Data in their lives a lot as well. A few years ago I realized they were taking gifted kids and making them autistic to fit their narrative.

Damn, your fiancé seems pretty cool. Is she single?
She's a real woman, FutaCumDiet. You wouldn't like her.
What do you mean? He has a real girlfriend ... it's just that her last name ends in '.JPG'.
She will be.

Agreed!!!!
You just turn Spock into a closeted gay autist in the next set of movies.
I'm surprised that they haven't done that yet.

There was a whole episode about that kind of thing in ST:TNG where Data helped a kid cope with the death of a family member.
He just started emulating data because he has no emotions. And the kid thought if he had no emotions, it wouldn't hurt.
I remember that one. That's a good one, and it's something a child would probably do.
