Grooming is bad whether or not the underage girl you are grooming is 'innocent'.

The age of consent in my country (a Western one) is 16.
There are far fewer countries in the world that have an age of consent above 16 than there are who don't. That age seems entirely reasonable to me, and I don't think that it makes me a paedophile to say so.

Why though? I think sane people who say that think of a 17-year-old having a 16 girlfriend, but truth is, this does give blanket permission for 60-year-olds to go after 16-year-olds. I don't think that is very reasonable.
Would it make you feel more comfortable if the 60 year old was going after an 18 year old? They're physically similar, and have about the same level of maturity. Or do you think the age of consent should be 21?
Sounds to me like your problem is not with the age being 16, but rather with big age gaps. Is a law limiting that, the kind of legislation you'd like to see implemented?
Actually, yes, it would make me more comfortable. At least you're out of high school, or will soon be. Of course, it's arbitrary, but 18 is a lot better than 16. And don't forget that when you are 16, the distance to 18 is literally 1/8 of your life. It's not 60 vs 62.
You can't smoke, you can't drink, you can't join the military, but it's OK for you to get groomed by a 60-year-old?
It's not that I necessarily think age gaps are bad. It's not Leonardo DiCaprio I'm after.
