Hmm, basically matches what the guy fired from NBC said.
Still not what I expected. Why are they both smiling and standing there? And then AFTER the cops are there to witness it the guy attacks him. Are they both on drugs?

Look, he might be worried for his life, but it's always party time in the Pelosi house.
In the 911 call, he was saying that the assailant, whom he called "gentleman", was waiting for his wife. Were I in that situation, I would try my best to pretend that everything is normal, rather than making Crazy Man turn on me before the police arrived.
Is it weird? Sure. Is it proof of far-out claims about what happened here? Not even close.

Look I drank a lot in my time, but I never ended up in my underwear fighting a fat man for a hammer with a drink in my hand. Some people are just crazy

I watched it several times and couldn't tell who actually opened the door.
The guy grinned like a psycho. It seems that PP got a hold of the hammer, which is a better strategy than trying to outrun someone much younger than he is. When the police said 'drop the hammer' and then did nothing about it, he may have realized that it's 'now or never' to strike.

Sorry not fired, but apparently he was temporarily suspended. There were a lot of reports at the time claiming he was admonished by network execs and NBC even apologized for the incorrect story, but I can't find them now. This is the only one I found.
