I know literally one song on there and I didnt think it was all that great to begin with ('80's Mercedes). My enjoyment of modern country pretty stopping outside of a few edge cases in the 2010's continues unchanged. People like Chris Stapleton, Brantley Gilbert, Dead Man's Poison, Corb Lund, Jackson Dean, and others? All fine and I still love their stuff.
These radio Barbie's Nashville keeps trying to turn out, as well as the "Bro Country" types? There is a reason I keep my radio tuned to the classics station.
At least with my main genre of Metal, there is a seemingly endless supply of good bands still making great music. At least in the Power Metal and Heavy Metal sphere (since that is my style).
Never heard of either. I looked up some of their stuff just to get an idea, and I definitely wouldnt say no to either (although Visigoth seemed more my style out of the two).
To give you an idea of my taste, below are my top 5. Of course, ignoring the obligatory Sabaton and Powerwolf that damn near every Power Metal fan has on their favorites list (with Sabaton being my actual favorite because I am a history nerd):
Interesting, I'll have to give some of these a try, I'm only aware of Beast in Black on that list. I used to frequent the power metal board on Reddit but I tend more towards American power metal (as in Manowar, Manilla Road, and Medieval Steel).
You're right also that's it's difficult to locate good country with the sound and spirit of traditional or neo traditional.
I dont find as much American metal as I would hope for. A lot of the stuff I find just dredging the depths is almost always Scandinavian.
Although in an ironic, I did have a funny moment regarding two bands I like.
Smash Into Pieces, the first time I ever heard them, I thought was American, with a guess of Seattle or Portland. When I saw one of their music videos where the opening prominently showed off the Golden Gate Bridge, I assumed I was right. Then I finally got around to actually looking them up...and it turns out they were Swedish. And their lead singer even has a fairly thick accent when he is not singing, so that was kind of funny. Of course, this fact I thought made the music video and lyrics for their song Heathens that much funnier. ("Show'em how we do it Down South." You arent from the South?)
Meanwhile, the other band is Starset. When I first heard them, I thought they were British, because while their singer didnt really have an obvious accent, he sounded similar to a lot of other British power metal bands I had heard like Gloryhammer. And I get around to looking up where they were from, it turns out they were from Columbus, Ohio.
You might like Ironflame, they're American power metal with some Euro tendencies (amusingly also an Ohio band). You've probably heard of Eternal Champion but they're pretty damn good (and last time I checked avowedly apolitical). Also Atlantean Kodex is an amazing band.
The lead vocalist for Grand Magus threw me for a similar loop initially. Thought he was American until I looked them up and found out they were (of course) Swedish.
Edit: The Brothers of Metal and Eclipse tracks are great, thanks! You might try Seekers of the Blade or Blood Red Cross for Ironflame and Lion of Chaldea or Sol Invictus for Antlantean Kodex.
Nah, to do that she would have to attack a singer with actual talent like when the Dixie Whores went after Toby Keith. Looking back it was one of the first SJW attacks and Toby Keith handled it perfectly.
I mean, she was recently taking snipes at Jason Aldean for the crime of "Being openly conservative", so she is absolutely working her way down the Dixie Chicks road.
EDIT: Also trying to convince Jason Aldeans wife to leave him, and then implying Jason's wife was a money grubbing whore when she told her to fuck off.
From what I saw, his wife put out a response to her on Instagram lashing back, and Jason just responded with "That's my Barbie!" (since Morris called his wife "a Barbie doll" as an insult). And then I imagine her agent told her to shut the fuck up because as far as I can find nothing has happened since then.
EDIT: Although looking into it more, apparently his original PR firm dropped him because "How dare you!" Which I am sure hurts him greatly as one of the biggest and most well known names in modern Country music.
So, I've been missing hissing and hair pulling from ugly fat chicks trying to homewreck and married couples. God, Country still is the hicks from the sticks.
That is kind of harsh. More like Yankee carpetbaggers coming down from on high to enlighten those weird hicks, since it is so easy after all. Wait, why do I hear Alan Jackson in the distance?
What I want to know is what the hell happened to female country singers? Because we have gone a long way off course from the likes of Shania Twain and Jo Dee Messina.
Looking back it was one of the first SJW attacks and Toby Keith handled it perfectly.
And yet on the subject that actually got them shit-canned, the invasion of Iraq, they were correct (for the wrong reasons) and he was wrong (but well-intentioned).
True, but Toby was more of a "support our troops" kind of guy than a shill for the Iraq war. He also has an old school respect for the the presidency as an institution, particularly in its role as commander in chief. That's why he got pissed off at the Dixie Whores, and of course they went after him personally for a song that was about the Afghanistan war, which was far more justified (albeit prosecuted horribly). Toby isn't very political, but he is a huge patriot. The only reason the latter gets confused for being the former is because we've made the mistake of tolerating an entire political movement dedicated to treason.
Thankfully I have Hank Sr, Hank Jr, Loretta Lynn, Charlie Pride, Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Carter Family, Waylon, and the list goes on.
Exactly. It’s funny to because People like Cash, Haggard, Willie, or Waylon didn’t have what you would call beautiful voices but they could sing. Another one is Louie Armstrong. I’ve heard people with much better voices sing Wonderful World but his will always be my favorite
I completely agree. I’m as manly as they come but as a massive Elvis fan I shed a tear or two when I saw the movie and they showed the real footage of him singing unchained melody at the end.
When I was little and tv channels still signed off for the night they used to show footage of countryside and farmland while they played either the Star Spangled Banner or Wonderful World by Louie
Truth. I have no idea who this unfortunate looking woman is. I'm guessing she's trying a career stall cheat code by virtue signalling to groomerclowns. I doubt they know who she is either, though.
Literally who?

Stratovarius came out with their latest album recently, although I haven't been able to get it yet.
Have you heard of and if you have, what do you think of Vultures Vengeance and Visigoth?
Never heard of either. I looked up some of their stuff just to get an idea, and I definitely wouldnt say no to either (although Visigoth seemed more my style out of the two).

Definitely like what I have heard thus far of Ironflame! And thank you for the other options as well.
Heavy metal requires talent in order to garner any sort of success, so it's got some built in gate keeping. Not everyone can shred.
Laid Back Country Picker is the greatest.
Trying to follow the Dixie Chicks but without being popular in the first place?

Oh, okay. That is similar to the Dixie Whores. Did Aldean handle the situation properly like Keith?
From what I saw, his wife put out a response to her on Instagram lashing back, and Jason just responded with "That's my Barbie!" (since Morris called his wife "a Barbie doll" as an insult). No we didn't. Shiny Twat went all slut slime and pop, and it's just evolved into onlycountryfans.
And yet on the subject that actually got them shit-canned, the invasion of Iraq, they were correct (for the wrong reasons) and he was wrong (but well-intentioned).
History's weird like that.

Love this old music so much. It makes me feel normal, human. It's one of the few things in this world that calms my retard brain.
Ever hear Silver Wings by Merle?
Yes! Love it! Also Freddy Fender’s version
I could swear Marty Robbins had done a cover of it, but I can't find it.

Who???
Post Reported for: Useless title
Improve your title-gore, I guess.
If I'd said her name, everyone would tell me to quit making people up or quit using private people's info because no one knows who she is.
But isn't it always the way. It's the dogs that apologize for attention because they've not the talent or looks to get it any other way.
