I did an exchange to Germany, when I was in school. It went really, really badly (one of my many regrets), but one thing which I do distinctly remember was my “host mother” taking me to a couple of environmental protest events…
They were really wacky, even by the standards of what I had seen back home, lol… Even at the time, I realised these people were a bit “out there”, and that was long before the “woke” wave! 😂

During party conferences this can lead to funny things like no woman wants to say anything and thus the speaking time ends and men who wanted to say more are not allowed to speak.
Also obviously applies for political jobs - women get dibs first.
Oh hey, this was in Thuringia, AKA the German state where their establishment (including then-still-unretired Angela Merkel) overturned the results of an election a few years ago after it put the 'far-right' AfD in a position to form a governing coalition and forced Bodo Ramelow - a member of the actually far-left Die Linke party, whose name literally means 'The Left', and who fired the guy featured in the article - into the office of Minister-President instead.
