This completely destroys the rational for abortion. If these work, it means any fetus can be removed from the mother and still survive to become a child.
It's still horrific, because the state would own the child, but I still dream of a world where deadbeat parents, of both sexes, are identified via DNA tests and made to pay child support to the government for 20 years.
Better than that, it destroys the the rationale for having women.

The child would be a ward of the state, which has always been the case with orphans.
Not necessarily. Many children have family members willing to take them. They're not given that opportunity if the child is aborted, but most adoptions are to family members.
