Pokemon franchised changed as a whole when it decided to include inputs from westerners. We know they included undertale creator to work on that soundtrack but I don't think he was the only one to be working there. All the big mega franchises have to eventually be casualised for the lowest common denominator even if the original property is Japanese. Look what happened to Guilty gear for example.
