If you can’t control what you install on your device, then you do not own it. Sideloading should be a thing. In addition, app stores should not be in the business of content moderation.

I disagree to an extent. I don't think there's anything wrong with having specialty app stores that only "stock" apps within their niche - like only having child-safe apps in your curated child-safe app store. But Apple shouldn't be abusing their vertical integration by saying that if you bought an Apple device then you can only download apps that actively enforce Apple's ideology.
I don't think Apple are in the best position to fight Elon since all their shit is built in China where protests have ground everything down and Elon's factories are state side and I bet making a new 'Telsa phone' is easier than doing a full electric car...especially with Starlink available..
Bringing out a new phone with a new software ecosystem now would be a really long shot, to say the least. However, if there ever was a good time for it, it's now.
I'd definitely say the tipping factor is Elon himself, he's a marketing god as he can grab so much attention himself and funnel that straight into his new products or venture. People pre pay just to be part of his events while I feel Apple is extremely reliant on it's 'prestige' too much to respond to this tactic effectively.
The software ecosystem for an OS takes a long time and investment though, regardless of how good Elon is himself. That would be the bottleneck for a Tesla phone.
Teslas use Ubuntu as a base, so they have many well versed Linux devs who would be capable of hiring competent Android devs, as Android is also based on Linux.
It really is developing the hardware and manufacturing capability that is the hard part for tesla as they already have the capability of making their own custom Android ROM.
Making a custom Android ROM isn't going to solve anything since its still under the control of Google, not to mention it won't attract the average user. Many companies have already tried that.
True but Apple is currently suffering long term issues thanks to it's production being focused in China, if I was a business man, I wouldn't have started this fight because Apple aren't in a position of strength right now.
Starlink coverage in the eastern US is pretty slim, and there isn't enough slack bandwidth to accommodate a serious challenger to the big three players in the US market right now.
Whether or not the big three would be willing to sell his service airtime depends on how invested they are in perpetuating the cartel.
They tolerate the small startups, but may not do the same for a serious competitor.

That’s a fair point, if side loading is allowed as well as alternative app stores, then the need for a neutral App Store becomes much less necessary.
That's exactly Apple's point, isn't it?
It's not your iPhone, never was. Apple just let you rent it for a while.
I hate these nanny corporations playing arbiters of morality. Especially since they grandstand on painfully-retarded leftist talking points.
Pepe the frog, and Wuhan institute of Virology SARS-2 leak. Give me a fucking break.
I doubt they are doing it all on their own, without any kind of incentivizing from "above".
The corporations are partnering with jews. Elon is also partnering the the ADL and he repeats there phrases often. It's all a show.

This is a fight that will really hurt Apple, and I am all for it.
It will be amazing to see if people abandon their iphones for twitter, or abandon twitter for their iphones.
they will use a browser for twitter.
Sheesh, Pepe the frog is upsetting?
Don't go to twitch, cause every single stream is filled with 100s of versions of Pepe.
Child sexual abuse material = I sleep
Frog memes = real shit.
