These aren't robots, they are RC cars with guns on them.
Typical lefty spin. "They want to give robots the right to use deadly force!"
No, they want to give the operators the right to use the robots as deadly force.
There are already robots with guns that are used to kill people. Its been used for years with a human being controlling them.
I'm aware.
This a classic case of moving to codify what they have already been doing for years.
Wow, they hit shit dystopia but skipped Judge dread and went straight to terminators
That's robocop.
These will be more like ED209s. Loyal as a puppy, to anyone that can play "i'm oppressed" on their kazoo.
How will it handle "I identify as (insert protected class), don't shoot!"?
Every 209 unit would get stuck in a logic loop, first day on the job.
That's a 209 feature, not a bug. Mirrors the protected class.
That program could get expensive though when 40whatever% of the units suffer self inflicted casualties.
No fear. There's a factory
indoctrinatingbuilding new bots in a school near you. For free.Well nuts!
Unfortunately not for free, forcibly taxpayer subsidized.
We're going to have to install a homebrew OS on some of the new bots, to keep from getting overwhelmed.
taxpayer shmaxpayer. Stocks go up, people go down.
Hmm homebrew OS.... I'd buy that for a dollar.
Yet they called the president of Taser a monster for suggesting that schools have manually operated drones with tasers to stop shooters.
It's (D)ifferent
So it's SF, are we getting Daleks running around screaming "exterminate!" while shooting straight white men?
I've seen memes about drone loads for shotguns, guess 'bot loads are next?
It's SF so there are only pozzed loads
Great, now we'll have cartridges and shells that don't know what caliber or gauge they are.
So if a robot shoots a black criminal, is the robot racist?

Asimov's Three Laws were only ever a narrative device.
Now we are going to have to get personal EMP's to handle this shit.
