I get that, but what's in the thread is that in addition to the verified boost, non-verified accounts are going to be even further suppressed, there's another video in the thread where he says "you will have to scroll down very far to find unverified accounts". I personally wouldn't care either way, if most of the accounts I follow weren't either pr0n artists (on my side account) or my friends (on my main), but because most of the pr0n artists are unverified, I do care.
This is the video that says you will have to scroll down very far to find unverified accounts. Did you mean to link a different one? Because in this one he doesn't say anything about non-verified accounts being further suppressed. I may have missed it because I was too busy seething in white hot hatred at the "as a Jew myself" host.
Well that's just capitalism, you give you're free users a way in to get them hooked but not as noticed as those that pay cash. The only difference is before they did it under the table, Elon is just being upfront and telling you pay $8 and you get a boost.
Which I prefer, if you want my money be upfront, tell me what I get and you might get it, trying to guilt me by exclusion or that I need to make up for ancestors just pisses me off.
Obviously disagree, but I like the sentiment. If they ever go along with Jack's idea of making twitter a protocol instead of a platform, that will go a long way towards creating a true Internet public square.
Elon hasn't said anything in this regard recently, but I'm guessing he wants to secure twitter's place as the dominant social media network first before any "expansion through dilution" can start.
Where the hell do you live where you'd trust the government to have total control over the public forum? I cannot think of a single government in human history I would trust with that power.
I love this. Either it will fix twitter as a platform or it will crush and burn. I'm not yet sure what I prefer.
I've developed a disdain towards social media to the point were I would prefer it all burned down over being neutral.
If he drives it into the ground, it's a failed opportunity, but... It's still better than having left twitter in control of public discourse as it was.
I can guarantee every megacorp has its own Twitter replacement ready to roll out the femtosecond they smell blood in the water. And unlike Twitter, they probably have ESG measures hard coded directly into the server.
It’s been like almost 6 years since I’ve been able to find decent content on any major tech platform through algorithmic suggestion. Doesn’t everybody who is not an NPC just curate their feeds with creators they hear about via word of mouth anyway these days?
Yeah so like I suspected Musk doesn't claim "this would solve hate speech" anywhere in the answer or say anything about further suppression, just that the blue-checks being on top will help lessen the impact of trolls.
But I'm angry at having to watch the video to confirm Aaron Stewart-Ahn is lying. I mean, good lord that cuck on the left demanding more censorship... and the clapping seals... I hate these people. I don't want to hate. Don't make me watch this shit.
While I'm skeptical myself of Elon, it's best to hold off on criticism until after he actually implements something worthy of criticism, as he is mostly just doing spin currently. Now is the time to enjoy the lamentations of our enemies as he burns them out of their fortress.
There are certainly potential downsides to this strategy, such as the possibility of digital IDs, but making twitter profitable through subscriptions alone would nuetralize the power of advertisers over Twitter content. Converting people from the product to the customer is probably a good thing for the internet as a whole.
Making this a main comment: I get that, but what's in the thread is that in addition to the verified boost, non-verified accounts are going to be even further suppressed, there's another video in the thread where he says "you will have to scroll down very far to find unverified accounts". He's admitted that being verified (i.e., paying up) will lead to a boost as it does now.
The difference is that now being a corrupt journalist will get you that boost, while it will be available for anyone under Musk.

Yes the plan is to turn it into a subscription service. That's why it's priced so low.

If it fails something much worse will take its place.

Can't wait to pay 8$ monthly to just type nigger over and over to everyone who follows me 😎
