Seriously, I got so sick of arguing about this shit IRL that I just don’t even bother conversing with those people about anything to do with it anymore. They fundamentally refuse to see that they have been duped. I tried, for 2.5 years to make them see. Now? Fuck ‘em.
At least I increasingly know that I was right, now. Whatever limited relief that may be.
I don’t know how many remember this, but I commented in, like, February, how an extended “family” member nearly assaulted me across the table at a restaurant, in public, over this…
I wasn’t trying to “convince” her of anything, either. I merely admitted that I had not had her precious “jabs”, after significant goading by other family members (because they are pieces of shit). That was enough for her to hate me.
I can’t imagine I’m alone in this regard. These people went insane with the power the vaxx-partheid gave them. Of course they’ll never admit that was wrong…
There are plenty of complaints to make, but China did figure out how to admit to a mistake properly after the red guard wars. It was called scar art, and people were allowed to show their emotions and realizations in very public areas without being punished. My personal favorite is called Why, and shows a young man surrounded by dead classmates looking at the viewer. Another one was a woman looking at a lightbulb in a style so beautiful I wish I could find it again just to show.
Look up Zhang Yi-Mou's To Live to see an amazing version of scar art that was made fairly modernly.
They faced it, talked about it, and then let it go with a promise to be careful afterwards.
This being the same country that disappears people for even talking about Tiananmen, let alone the entire Uighur situation..? 🤔
Seems an odd country to be “praising” in such a way, particularly when they denied the lab leak to the point of ALSO making people disappear…

Different leadership. Deng Xiaoping had to rebuild china from Mao's insanity. He was the one who created the one child policy, and sent half of china out to get educations to replace everyone who had been killed in camps. He also survived the camps and ridicule.
Saying he got something right doesn't negate the evil he and others did.
