Yes agreed entirely. I should clarify that I only trust that Elon either has good or bad intentions. I don't believe he's incompetent enough to put someone in charge who will work against his actual goals.

If Elon was serious about allowing a wide variety of political beliefs, he needs to start by firing Roth and not putting people like Roth in charge of content moderation.
Going back to pre-2014 or even pre-2016 almost certainly won’t happen, at least not any time soon, because that would mean rolling back almost all of the censorship.
What will probably happen is that some of the more moderate conservatives will be unbanned - people like Jordan Peterson and the Babylon Bee. They were never actually banned anyway. They refused to delete tweets to unlock their accounts. More “extreme” conservatives (like the ones explicitly named here) will remain banned as a sort of compromise with the left.
I think Elon sees himself as a centrist and will seek some sort of middle ground between the left and the right, even though it is fake. If it were up to the right, all conservatives would be allowed on twitter and all lefties would be too. If it were up to the left, all conservatives would be banned from twitter. So the fake middle ground here is to allow some conservatives on the platform and keep the “extreme” ones banned. Meanwhile, the extreme lefties get to remain on the platform.
We’re at a massive disadvantage because conservatives don’t have multimillion dollar jewish NGOs essentially promising to launch a holy war if Elon allows true free speech on the platform. See the link above where the ADL threatens “dire consequences” if those specific individuals are unbanned.
I'm seeing plenty of based accounts go down now that Musk is in charge. I have no idea what's going on over at Twitter hq but they're clamping down regardless of whether the bird is free or not
