I stopped watching during the 3rd season. Is it worth it to go back to it? In 2nd season, I wasn't a fan of OP fighting girl that joined Cobra Kai, and I thought it was nonsense how the nerdy guy who'd basically just joined Daniel's dojo was able to beat Hawk in a 1v1, considering how much more experience the latter had.
I stopped watching after season 2 for the same reasons, a buddy of mine whos a bigger fan told me the OP girl power stuff gets worse, and the nerdy guy lands a hot blonde girlfriend at school. Hawk and Robby also lose to a middle school kid in a 1v1 fight lol
I enjoyed all 5 seasons. Season 1 was the best; it was fresh and paid homage to the original movies without being complete fan service.
As the seasons went on, the novelty wore off and it became less about Johnny and Daniel and more about the kids. The quality isn't as high anymore and the storyline has become pretty farfetched, but I've enjoyed seeing all the characters from the movies find their way back; some as cameos and some becoming major parts of the story.
Would the world be a lesser place if it has ended with season 1? No, but it's not a worse place for having seasons 2-5 either, if you catch my drift.
It's a great show, I thought it was getting woke for a couple of episodes at the start of Season 5 but i stays great.
It suffers from the problem of new characters not fitting into the "fighting hierarchy" very well but it's uniform across all characters.
Definitely worth getting back into IMO.
The first season is pretty much perfect. It goes downhill from there though. Starts to get overly convoluted and melodramatic. Multiple times characters are talking like the world needs to be saved from Satan and I'm saying "ITS KIDS KARATE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD."
It's okay. It is a high school kid drama with all the stuff that comes with that. Love triangles, bullies, parents who don't understand, secrets, etc. It's just wrapped in the nostalgia of Karate Kid.
I only saw the first two seasons, it definitely has woke stuff with things like diversity, and girls and fat kids fighting equally on par with athletic boys, but its a little more subdued since none of the dialogue express any kind of woke sentiments like She Hulk talking about mansplaining, and the main character makes some anti woke remarks which people think is based but the show plays it off more as hes a stupid boomer who doesn't "get" gen Z culture.
I stopped watching season 2 because the whole narrative became about how karate is creating a toxic masculine culture of bullies, and the main character starts going soft and tries to redeem himself after spending the first season trying to toughen up pussy gen Z kids.
Mileage varies depending on how much you like teen drama and/or Karate Kid but it is the gold standard of how old shows and movies should be adapted.
The lore is intact but events have moved into the future in a logical way. Characters keep their attributes but are more mature/jaded. Introduce new characters through the old and gradually shift focus if they're interesting enough. Bring back side characters and develope their personality. Treat the history with respect as time moves it forward.
A complete season of Cobra Kai vs 1-2 episodes of the other.
Not really a good comparison.
"That time period, by the way, maps to episode 4 of House Of The Dragon, “King Of The Narrow Sea,” and episode 3 and a bit of episode 4 of Rings Of Power. It also maps to all of Cobra Kai season 5 (and all the seasons before it),"

If you're a looking for fun, humor and nostalgia, it's 9/10.
Even past season 2?
Yeah Ive watched all episodes.

is this worth watching? is it actually good, or only when compared to current year movies and shows?

Save the dojo, save the world.

I found it surprisingly good and actually worth watching.
New season was good, can't recall any woke outside of Lawrence making fun of it maybe twice in the entire season.
And unlike the streaming services, we know these numbers were real.
