Comments are still to civil. We need to send 2000 not 100. Build permanent houses for them in Martha's Vineyard and then lets see how the rich and mighty react.
Oh, we know they react: they just got a couple of busses to transport the migrants out. The human trash has been removed from the premises.
Yeah they sent the National Guard to clear them out. Bet that was expensive: way more expensive than it cost Florida to send them over. Next time they should send 100 people.
Asymmetric warfare: you spend $50 to take an offensive position that it costs your opponent $50,000 to defend. Eventually defense becomes prohibitively expensive.
do you actually think elites care about your taxpayer's money?
What's less sustainable: transporting some small percentage of illegals who cross the border to Martha's Vineyard every day, or having the National Guard forcibly remove them from Martha's Vineyard every day?
You can say "they don't care about money", and it's true they don't care; but that doesn't mean that the costs don't matter. And that's not just money but the fact that the rich and powerful now have a military presence, hostile and foreign people in their neighborhood every day, etc...
Yes, but DeSantis won't get to pull that stunt again, not with Martha's Vineyard. he scored a major optics victory here, but he struck too close to home. They'll just pull whatever levers of power they need to block shipments to MV.
Scumbag liars. I've spent time on Martha's Vineyard as a remote branch of my family has lived there for 100+ years (meaning before it became a playground for rich people). They call all the newcomers "washashores."
First of all, there are tons of legal and illegal Brazilians and Portugeuse. Gotta have a work force to keep your houses clean, your restaurants staffed, and the grocery stores full. No one wants to pay for actual longtime residents to do that work when you can pay a dirt poor immigrant.
So yeah, poor people and specifically poor non-English immigrants have been and ARE a thing.
Dukes county is one of the poorest counties in Massachusetts. The rich part-time residents can easily afford living on the vineyard, the rest of the people? Not so much.
"Martha's Vineyard has no existing services" ... fuck you, and why is that? Despite the fact that there is a high poverty rate among the locals?
Brilliant move by DeSantis. In one stroke of the pen and two planefuls, he's clearly shown the corruption and hypocrisy at the core of the liberal elite.
Like some kind of person whose back is... wet?
Every place full of rich liberals has an acute housing crisis. They will whine about it to your face and then further restrict development on behalf of the environment.
*I guess every place has a housing crisis now, but it's worse in rich-liberal places.
Exactly, when will people on our side learn that the left doesn’t give a fuck about hypocrisy? They forget about it and excuse it as easily as the tide changes.
There are more than two sides.
"Keep fighting the two sides! Yes, you hate each-other! Fight!" -The third side.
Just Us, Them, and the Useful Idiots.
Maybe one of the Mr. Moneybags won't be quite so ready to write big checks to fund the campaigns of the people refusing to stem the tide next election cycle. This isn't just about optics, it's about making political decisions real to people who've literally never felt that before.
Maybe, but I doubt it. I think they’ll take whatever steps necessary to get these immigrants off of their lawn and then they’ll forget and go right back to supporting every blue initiative they can to make sure that we still get illegals but they only go to the right neighborhoods.
Every border state needs to do this. Let's accelerate and teach the nimbys a lesson
He's an independent reporter. He has to shill his blog, no?
Yeah I didn't see the Andy Ngo thing but will check it out. I've never heard of this turtle guy until today.
This was a fun read but we need 400 or more of them there. 50 was not enough.
