Yeah they sent the National Guard to clear them out. Bet that was expensive: way more expensive than it cost Florida to send them over. Next time they should send 100 people.
Asymmetric warfare: you spend $50 to take an offensive position that it costs your opponent $50,000 to defend. Eventually defense becomes prohibitively expensive.

What's less sustainable: transporting some small percentage of illegals who cross the border to Martha's Vineyard every day, or having the National Guard forcibly remove them from Martha's Vineyard every day?
You can say "they don't care about money", and it's true they don't care; but that doesn't mean that the costs don't matter. And that's not just money but the fact that the rich and powerful now have a military presence, hostile and foreign people in their neighborhood every day, etc...
Yes, but DeSantis won't get to pull that stunt again, not with Martha's Vineyard. he scored a major optics victory here, but he struck too close to home. They'll just pull whatever levers of power they need to block shipments to MV.
