Lets be honest, they did not make a historical accurate movie. They are not going to allow the all women fighters fight for slavery not against it. Also they are not going to show them as the incompetent bafoons that they were.
But clown world marches own and a show that is not going to be in any way faithful to history is apparently the best thing ever.
Not sure what the exact timeframe of the movie is, but I'm betting they'll also leave out the Battle of Adégon, where the French launched a bayonet charge at a Dahomey force consisting primarily of Agojie. Over 500 Dahomey died, over 400 of which were women. 6 French died.
I heard 1820s. It's before the First Franco-Dahomean war, so it's unclear to me what the historical context for the film is, if any
Buffoon. Probably originated with a guy named Jean-Louis LeClerc, the Compte of Buffon, a natural historian who had evolutionary views well before Darwin - and was mocked for it.
I just thought it was a synonym for jester. Very educational, would have made a good Time squad episode. It reminds me of Earl of Sandwich
