Nations aren't people and don't have wants. I know it's a turn of phrase, but im just saying there are plenty of people in Ukraine who dont want the war to go on any longer.
The Ukrainians didn't want the war to continue, which is why they elected a pacifist on the platform to end it (he practically did, as the trenches largely fell completely silent and even in the country people have forgot about the frozen conflict).
Then they were betrayed by Russia that all of sudden invaded their country full scale for no reason, after lying they're not going to do it, and murdered the lot of them, and so their mood has changed.
That's including the once marginal Nationalists (with 0 seats in the parliament) becoming the dominant political force, and dominant in the military and other force structures too.
Well sure. They'd like to go back to normal of just being a concentrated vortex of corruption where the leaders get to skim dollars off of the "foreign aid" that the US and other world powers send to them.
And they'd also probably like to go back to indiscriminate bombing of ethnic Russians within their borders.
My apology, I forgot the Russian rocket barrage on Kramatorsk deep inside the government territory (50 km from the frontlines) on February 10 of 2015, this was the last one of this kind.
Should be not confused with the crowd of refugees blown up by a Tochka at Kramatorsk railway station recently in a targeted attack on April 8. This one killed more than 50, compared to only 9 civilians killed by a volley of Tornados (Russia's newest rockets) that hugely overshot the city's airbase in 2015. Some of which failed to even explode: https://www.osce.org/ukraine-smm/139836 because Russian weapons are shit.
Paging u/AntonioOfVenice because I told him incorrectly that Mariupol on January 24 was the last one. Can't leave him misinformed, and unmolested.
They didn't even have much of this foreign aid for most of the time, unless you count the American payout for the disposal of nuclear weapons. The source of corruption is Ukrainian industries, being in the hands of shady and powerul oligarchs just like in Russia.
There was no "indiscriminate bombing of ethnic Russians within their borders" other than few incidents in mid 2014. Which were not unlike the Russian indiscriminate "bombing" (shelling/rocketing) of ethnic Russians within Ukrainian borders throughout 2014 (not caring about Minsk I) and also in early 2015. The last attack that could not be explained by a battle was the Russian rocketing of Mariupol on January 24 of 2015. After Minsk II in March '15 there was never nothing even remotely similar by either side for almost 7 full years.
