The story is very likely a fiction, but it is very demonstrative for thee problem we have today: the weaponization of every single institution to push the demented agenda of the woke.
What is the answer?
"wokeness" appeals to everyone's base and childish nature that fears the burdens of adulthood
it also appeals to those who are resentful of natural hierarchies
It used to be "shut up and work hard and you will get into heaven". But what is there now?
Apocalyptic collapse, civil war, peaceful divorce, gradual balkanization through parallel systems, or the promotion of some kind of anti-wokeness intersectionalism that weaponizes institutions to counter their philosophy. (platitudes like "we believe in freedom of speech" or "we're opposed to cancel culture" aren't enough) Most of these require powerful people (elites, influencers) to be on our side and publicly fighting this battle to make it more acceptable and normalized. That enlightened liberal positions are the default view is taken for granted by most.
But unquestioningly obedient to artificial and unnatural ones.
You aren’t wrong. Hard work may not always guarantee success but a mentality that the world owes you nothing and life isn’t always going to be fair goes a long way
It comes from Moldbug, who used more phrasing that emphasized it is fiction, but that version is somewhat clunky. Auron tells it better with a higher expectation of the readership to understand it is similar to a morality tale.
I saw one interview with Yarvin when I didn't know who he was, and ended up concluding that he's an odd fellow who gets some things wrong about history (e.g. kings were never 'absolute' in the way he wrongly presupposes). But Auron is always rather persuasive. He does tell everything better.
While he does have useful concepts and turned me onto some good books, I moved Yarvin into the enemy category when I realized he would be happy with Bezos as King of America.
It's also 100% projection.
