The idea that we as a species can't effect the climate is silly. Of course we can, we do it in miniature all the time. We have plans to do it on Mars, where we call it teraforming. The question is how much and how big a problem is it.

Also climate alarmists are stupid and can't seem to do math.

their "solutions" are always global communism.

Hegelian Dialectic - Create the Problem for what you really want. They wanted communism so they created Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming - which of course only communism can fix. Fucking Absurd nonsense from lowlife scum

You just don't understand my magical math model that no one is allowed to see that justifies my published paper and passed peer-review, even though the reviewers weren't allowed to see my math either.

If we don't take drastic measures now, in ten years we will have ten years before a ten year prediction that ten years later everyone might die in ten years if drastic action isn't taken within ten years after that.

We have plans to do it on Mars, where we call it teraforming.

Yeah, we'll just launch the Genesis torpedo at Mars and it'll become a lush green paradise.

Oh wait, that's science fiction.

We're not even sure of the logistic of sending more than a remote controlled car to Mars, even less what it would take to bring enough water over there to even think of managing of creating an atmosphere and then cold booting life.

You're quite overplayhing how realistic the plans are at this stage. Heck, if we're just talking about ideas people had, we also "have plans" to build a Dyson swarm around the sun by deconstructing Mercury using self replicating robots. Anyday now, like we're really close.

Brilliant, that's totally what I suggested. Magic torpedos. You are totally right I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Or we could admit that people can effect their environment. That we absolutely caused the dust bowl in the 30's with irresponsible farming and the ozone hole in the 80's due to strange chemicals. We fixed those problems, and I believe we can fix climate change (if it's even turns out to be a big deal), but the idea that we can't do any harm no matter how careless we are is short-sighted and irresponsible.

The biggest problem is the people telling us we're all going to die in 10 years are authoritarian liars who just want to control us; and the people telling us it's no big deal are the people making billions of dollars a year creating the problem and will undoubtedly make billions more fixing the problem when it becomes too big. Neither group can be trusted so we're stuck in the middle doing nothing.

First, they aren't "magic", they're science fiction. 2nd, no you have no idea what you're talking about if you bring up Terraforming planets (a currently very science fiction prospect we're no where near turning into science not fiction).

Or we could admit that people can effect their environment.

Sure, I've planted a tree or two myself.

The question isn't whether we can or cannot, it's whether we're really having such an effect on a plantery scale. And so far, with all the climate science we've seen, it's more alarmism than facts.

and the ozone hole in the 80's due to strange chemicals. We fixed those problems

Nice of you to bring that up. Following the Montreal protocol, scientists finally discovered that the famous Ozone hole was in fact not a hole per se, it was a seasonal shift Ozone density. Also, China and other countries never implemented the Montreal Protocol, and still use CFCs to this day.

And you know what ? The Ozone density has replenished much faster than predicted, with predictions based on 100% adherance to the Montreal protocol.

So obviously, scientists kinda goofed that one. Big panic, lack of understanding of the underlying phenomena. But sure, we "fixed" it after "causing" it.

I agree absolutely that climate science is more alarmism than facts. I'm old and the climate alarmists have been predicting imminent danger since I can remember. The only thing I'm not agreeing to is that "Man-made global warming is about as real as the easter bunny" as someone (not you) posted. I don't believe we are in imminent danger, I do believe we can fix it, but I also have seen man made destruction with my own eyes and believe we need to be good stewards of the planet. I'll have to better educate myself on the ozone depletion.

Mars literally doesn't have the resources to make it Earth-like, so it's a poor example to point to. It's far more credible that you could undo a previous natural example of climate change on Earth by releasing the sequestered carbon from the Carboniferous Period.

If we wanted to actually solve climate change it would be trivial. Oceanic iron seeding would suck all of the carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and it would cost only a couple of billion dollars. And then plants would wither and die and the world would end.

Of course we could do it in small doses over a couple decades for proper regulation and not a Snowpiercer scenario but as with most problems the efficient solution does not line their pockets so they're not interested in it.
