How is this news? I remember ripping CDs with Windows Media Player like 10-15 years ago. It might have only supported WMA but the feature was there. And at this point anyone who has needed to rip CDs has already found a solution (EAC/lame). Or is the real story how Windows 11 was rushed to market barely finished and they're just going to slowly add features over the next few years? What do you guys think of Windows 11?
Other than some staff comments about how he was suspicious, and that it was noticed his fourm account that predates the job was likely banned afterwards, no.
Wow! What's next, updates to the dial up internet client?

The real story is that ArseTechnica is whoring themselves out to Microsoft to shill their cancerous OS.
They never denounced the convicted child molester they employed. Why start doing the right thing now?

This. The new Media Player is actually a complete rewrite, and older installs of Windows 11 used the old WMP 12 instead (which you can still install).
I just think it speaks to the entire mess that is Win 11. They seem dead set on replacing things before the replacement is actually finished.
No MP3 support, just pre-MP3 formats, to boot.
And really, who the fuck still uses Media Player? I thought they ditched that ages ago.
WinAmp ftw.
WinAmp's visualizer is pretty trippy.
I still remember and miss the Sonique skin/viz ecosystem.
musicbee. best player i ever had. have virtual machine of windows just for it.
no other music player has all the functionality, let alone the ability to handle a 1 million songs+ library.
Was searching to find the first mention of Musicbee. Was not disappointed.
Only took them a quarter of a century.
1998 called and wants their technology back
I was able to rip CDs with 10's media player a month ago. Kind of sad how you lose some functionality with supposed upgrades.
CDs nuts.
