He's an idiot, you can't just "renounce" US citizenship, that's not the way it works.

First you have to get an appointment with the State Dept wherein you declare your intention to renounce. There's a shitton of paperwork involved and about $3,500 in fees. Then after the State Dept. reviews your paperwork and tax status it may or may not accept that renunciation. Remember, as a US citizen you have to file an annual US tax return no matter where you live in the world or how long you've been there.

If the State Dept. approves you need a second appointment to finalize the paperwork, The whole process can take months or years and several in-person appointments for review. The government literally has the wherewithall to deny the request.

And you will need a passport [citizenship] from another country in order to forfeit the US passport, so that has to be done before you can even begin the process.

He's a lying dipshit.

There was no cost to renounce U.S. citizenship until July 2010, at which time a fee of $450 was established. In September 2015, the U.S. State Department raised the fee to renounce U.S. citizenship by over 400 percent. The cost was increased from $450 to $2,350 in an effort to deter Americans overseas from renouncing citizenship.

Thanks again, Obama.

For the same reason the Berlin Wall existed. Make it hard for the slaves to lease the plantation.

He's still doing concerts? With Green Day? Isn't he like 60, singing songs about being an angsty teenager?
