The reason there aren't more female chefs ist the same reason there aren't more female sewer-workers. They don't want to. And most who try nope the fuck out as soon as they realize how hard a work it is.
These morons believe being a chef is akin to preparing dinner for 5.
Must be sexism and not that men by nature are more competitive, are forced to fight for every inch they get, expected from the start to make something of themselves/workhard, and are driven by a basic instinct to provide (especially food). Nope, must be sexism.
It's the same reason why men occupy almost all positions of note in human history.
We are spread much wider across the genetic bell curve than women, so there are many more exceptional men and also many more complete failures. Women cluster much closer to the average in almost all measurable aspects.
As for why people want women in the kitchen? Running a household is a cooperative task, so you have to spread the work in some fashion. Usually the husband is the breadwinner, which means he's busy elsewhere most of the day. This leaves the wife responsible for general housekeeping, including cooking.
Don't get tipped so your take home might be less than waiters
Is that common? I would think they would advertise that fact since it's not what most people expect.
(not pooling tips among waiters, but giving some to the chefs)
