Notice that the slippery slope is a 'logical fallacy' unless they make it?
Homo rights will lead to pedo rights? That's a logical fallacy!
Overturning Roe v. Wade will lead to the restoration of slavery. That's logically sound!
So pathetic. If you are going to hold the U.S. eternally accountable for slavery then hold most of the world’s countries to the same standard.
Also note how the US is never given credit for ending slavery within it's own borders.
There were quite a few countries that needed the British military to show up to achieve the same.
Yes! Thomas Sowell has a great summary of the world history of slavery and it was eye opening for me. Also, these people wouldn’t donate a dime to organizations trying to fight slavery today. Much easier to virtue signal about slavery in the 1800s.
shitlibs would support hwite slavery. they dont have great morals themselves.
The republicans back then opposed slavery for the same reason modern republicans oppose illegal immigration now: it drives down wages for the republican base.
Imagine a republican party advocating for their voters, I literally can't.
How about modern Africa? A quick search reveals there are around 9.2 million slaves on the continent.
Yep. But of course they do t have the guts to call them out for it.
If they mention those real, live slaves today it's only to blame western nations for it.
That's without even getting into the modern, corporate slavery of exporting labor to poor nations and barely paying those people to manufacture the luxuries western people enjoy while virtue signaling. Like Nike shoes made in a sweatshop.
Are you by any chance pretending that this only concern the US and not the entire West?
Oh it is absolutely a concern. I just hate that ppl don’t see the danger in labeling things “hate speech”, tearing things down, giving a biased view of history, brainwashing kids with racist garbage, and the list goes on.
They knew exactly what they were doing in 2017.
They knew exactly what they were doing in 1969.
More proof of Communist Insurgency in America.
It's just an opinion piece and does not represent the views of the Washington Post. /s
Still waiting for that Alex Jones op-ed.
Exactly
Nah, just the opinions they want you to have. I noticed CNN doesn't even bother to segregate the Opinion pieces any more. I don't see why WaPo does.
Somewhat ironic that it's called the Washington Post
Fun fact: Washington actually freed more slaves than Lincoln, since the Confederacy was a foreign nation and Lincoln had no Authority to free any slaves there.
Fun fact: Juneteenth is a lie and the Emancipation Proclamation didn't affect Amerindian slavers who continued taking slaves (both black and Irish) until roughly 1893.
I called this in 2017. Confederate statues should not have been allowed to be pulled down. Yes many were built in the last 100 years I don't care. We clearly need to build more of them.
