The entire western gaming industry has been completely subverted by leftist ideology and these scumbags still have the gall to make this retarded claim that "far-right extremists are a growing presence in gaming" (archive.ph)

Now is the time to become indie devs. Engines and other tools have never been more accessible and affordable. Be the change you want to see. Give an alternative to the mainstream woke trash crapped out every month. The mainstream will either fire them and go back to product over propaganda or they will continue and die off while your market share grows.

The issue is that a lot of these indie devs are also making garbage as well so it's incredibly difficult to make good content known. Town of Salem is a great example, as their much-anticipated "sequel", something that could've had an audience of literally millions of people, turned out to be a shitty among-us clone that isn't even as good as the "town of us" mod for that game.

I should have probably added it’s not necessarily easy to have success. Just the tools are now easier to use and aren’t locked behind super expensive licenses.

I'd argue that it's way harder to have a successful thing now than it is 20 years ago, as most ideas have already been made so if you don't do an extremely good job you're just going to get compared to a shitty predecessor. Coromon? Oh look, a shit pokemon remake. Fortnite? Shit PUBG remake. Most of the current "new" steam titles? Shit Among Us remakes. Just because the tools may be there doesn't necessarily mean it's a worthwhile opportunity, whether it be making games or building surfboards from scratch.

It’s harder to get the product in front of people who want it now just based on the sheer amount of content. But your chances of success are 0 if you never take the chance.

You're right. Here's mine. Entire cost of development: $0 spread out over 2 days.

Disclaimer: It's not lost on me that if I had made that game six months earlier I'd be a millionaire.

And Steam has dropped any pretense of having any standards at all, so you'll have a platform to sell from.

Yes! And the indie devs who complained about them opening it up claimed it was costing them sells because of visibility, but these people had already had success with the old system . And steam tends to recommend games from devs you bought from previously. These people were upset that they now have more competition and their games now had to rely on more than just being the cheap non AAA game released on the store that week
