'LMAO they've out Netflixed Netflix with this show.'
Of course, the writer described Aviendha's character as white, and depicts her body as pale, her face is sun-darkened, or reddened, or blushing so fiercely that she looks like sunsets, or goes sickly green.
'LMAO they've out Netflixed Netflix with this show.'
What did you expect? She's a redhead in the books.
Remember to point out that when wokesters try and defend this it requires them to assume all desert dwellers are of a particular [dark] skin tone despite actual examples showing a variety.
The "we need representation" is a lie too. They just really hate whites.
Redheads must be nigged.
It is required by the "industry leaders."
I'm pretty sure we can all see their game by now.
You'd be lucky if any of the writer read past the title on the cover. You're getting a cliff note version of the cliff notes they were given and then promptly discarded because "racism" or something. Every single one of those fuckwits probably think they're better writers than Robert Jordan or Brandon Sanderson and the only reason they're not authors of multiple best sellers is because the "system" is holding them back.
The first episode features one of the main characters accidentally killing his own wife (a character who literally didn’t even exist in the books).
Brandon Sanderson told them not to do this because it makes no sense for a man to accidentally kill his own wife and then immediately go on an adventure. Also, the trauma of such a tragedy would drastically alter the behavior of the character going forward. You know, basic character writing concerns.
The show writers ignored him. They literally do think that they are better writers than Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson.
The showrunner sounds like a douchebag when he explains why he ignores the book. Also one of the first thing he talked about was lgbt representation so I knew it was in trouble
Long before they ruined Perin, race-swapped characters, or announced the damn series, I already new <IP> made in <current year> was going to be a dumpster fire. Troons and their NPC "allies" can't comprehend nuance and have a laughably shallow understanding of either sex, so a series that relies heavily on the dynamic between the (binary) sexes stood no chance in hell.
Most would immediately break and turn to crippling alcoholism for a few years.
That's the classic setup for 80s cop films.
I was a nerdy black kid who was into sci-fi and fantasy growing up. Can you guess who teased me about it the most? I made your point about this before. Anyone can pick up a book and read it. The books generally appeal to certain groups. Doesn’t mean I can’t read it but like you said people whining about representation in these shows probably haven’t even read the source material
It’s not doing well? I heard a shill site say it was doing great but maybe they referred to the first episode. I want this to fail as a lesson about what happens when you butcher source material
Ugh. I so wanted it to fail so it could serve as a lesson about butchering the source material.
When can a white person play Nelson Mandela or an African person play Mohammad?
The land that satirizes Mohammad without qualm, is the land that I know is worth fighting for.
F the rest of the bent over committee. Leave that shit to the 5x-a-dayers.
I saw that and all I could do was laugh. Has the showrunner ever even read the books? I know Jordan described who he imagined each character to look like. I’ve told as many people as I could to just read the books or listen to them.
One look at the title of the post and my first thought was "Wow, these people really hate gingers."
I honestly would’ve been surprised if she liked like the book described. This is honestly why a cast of an adaptation is enough to make me not watch it. Race and gender swaps are a red flag.
Asian could still work in many cases because upper caste Asians are often pale and try their best to stay pale white.
I thought they were eliding Elayne entirely?
