Apologies for the editorialized title and the Translate link, but I can't find a single mention of this in any English-speaking media. This is pretty huge. Germany has such massive problems with the power grid, in Year of our Lord 2022, that they can't run freight trains reliably. This is one of the richest countries in the world. Welcome to the 21st century, now go buy an electric cuckmobile.
Same thing in Britain. Most people don't notice it, but our power is actually rationed. We have controlled brownouts and power releases. Yes yes people will argue that's just "peak production and use), but it's controlled not just for consumption reasons, it's also to ensure supply fuel doesn't run out.
But hey idiot Britain invested in nuclear energy only to make 90% of them shut down.
Shuts down Nuclear in exchange for 'green' energy which has dubious effects at best
Oh yeah, those evil nasty nuclear power plants and their emissions of...Water vapor...Which at worst causes fucking RAIN, something we could all do with a bit more of.
This is what happens when you listen to a bunch of hippies begging for "green" alternatives like solar panels and wind farms while asking to dismantle the nuclear power plants.
It isn't just hippies. It's anyone that has the "correct" beliefs (NPCs basically). Something that really stuck with me was someone in a comment to some article I read said "solar panels can't warm Chicago in winter" and there was a bunch of replies of "the sun still shines in winter, duh." That's the enemy, people who think anything that puts out any voltage for a few hours a day is good enough to power a city. "It make power. What problem?"
Solar power sucks ass in Germany. On average about 11% capacity factor. In other words 1000 W of solar panel will only produce 110 W averaged out over the year (this includes night). In winter near the solstice is only 2% while the summer is 22%. Chicago is probably a couple percent better than Germany on average, like 13-14%.
Yep and then the solar panels output drops off as they go over 25 degrees Celsius, so here in AUS on a nice summer day at 40 degrees your solar panel is over heating to all buggery and producing a lot less.
I was being a bit generic on the "hippie" comment, but yes, you are correct.
Plus, for that solar panel to power something at night, on a city that massive, they would need a battery probably the size of a stadium. Which, considering how polluting it is to get batteries, any benefit is quickly destroyed. Assuming that solar panels are "Carbon neutral" (when in fact it is far dirtier to make than a nuclear power plant), those batteries would destroy it quickly.
Germany sells energy when it is windy and has a lot of sun. But buys and fires their coal and gas power plants when it is not. Which is a lot. There is no way to store it. And this is a huge problem. Sad that they do not realize their choices are more damaging to the environment than the nuclear power plants.
Well, that project started years ago, they're just not retarded enough to scrap it when it's nearly finished and lose tens of billions for internet likes from retards who think this will hurt muh Putler.

Isn't that what a lot of Europe has done over the last decade to transition to wind/solar in the name of Climate Change(tm)?
Oh yeah, those evil nasty nuclear power plants and their emissions of...Water vapor...Which at worst causes fucking RAIN, something we could all do with a bit more of.
Yep but unlike Britain, most of Europe didn't previously collapse all their other powerstations and fuel supplies.
Britain still has plenty of coal.
If only there was a German political party known for fixing this kind of problem
They need a leader not afraid to propose a final solution to their energy problems.
Maybe they just need a bit more living space.
I wonder why?

I cannot believe solar power has been built-up in Germany. They are insane.
They're even dumber because 1/6th of their solar is residential rooftop so they spent a fortune installing it.

Your honestly better off just painting pvc pipes black and running a sterling engine.
Neither is great, but you'd think they'd go with wind in a place like chiraq or germany.
I'd say hydro-electric, but that's evil now too, somehow...
something something something fish life-cycles, but there's solutions to that, too...
"We look for things. Things to make us power."
(trains stop)
"We are not smart."
Based Pakled reference.

They are crazy climate cultists. Environmentalists are communists in disguise. Conservationism is the virtuous form of environmentalism
They're watermelons; green on the outside red on the inside.
Environmental fascism is legit.
"no way to store it"
...forgive an ignorant question, but what about compressed gases/liquids?
This will be remembered in the same manner that Lysenkoism is.
In the mean time, Hungary is working with Russia to expand it's nuclear power plant.
