Edit: I spelled it mapfia - considering the ideology of these folks, I gotta admit that Freudian slip never entered my mind until now.
For those of you who still care about video games, Guilty Gear Strive is a fighting game that got retooled and rebooted and dumbed down for normies. It's a highly polarizing game, with veterans going back to playing Xrd and/or +AC and normies playing Strive for the "story".
Recently, a new DLC returning character was announced. His name is Testament - his old design was that of an ultra goth looking dude - sorta feminine, but you could still tell it was a man:

His new design is ultra androgynous, in fact rather sickenly so: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/guilty-gear/images/3/38/Testament_Strive.png/revision/latest/top-crop/width/360/height/450?cb=20220320015231
Whatever, right. Japanese games and gay looking character designs are nothing new, only problem is... the new story text, instead of just referring to this character as a him, because that's what he clearly is, is starting to use "they/them" shit. Soyfaces everywhere by the woke fucks about muh nonbinary transgender shit.
Old localization had it like this: https://i.redd.it/1jgt6nevbno81.png
Strive website has it like this: https://www.guiltygear.com/ggst/en/character/tst/
JP seiyuu is a veteran female VA, Yu Kobayashi who has voiced both male and female characters.
The English voice actor? A troon. Kayleigh McKee. Unironic support for BLM: https://twitter.com/GhaspeyVO
It was 100% clear this was a virtue signal from the woketards they picked up with Strive.
I personally just play King of Fighters, which has jiggly titties and prettyboys anyway, so it's no heat off my back, but I have to feel sorry for GG players who thought they'd be free of this shit.
This is the same game where they patched out references to Taiwan, Tibet, and Uighur in their story blurbs.
Ah yeah, fucking cucks.
I miss when the biggest controversies in the FGC were whether the technical improvements in SC5 were worth the complete rape of literally every other aspect of it from characters to lore. Much like MVC Infinite claiming "characters are just functions, nobody plays them except for their movesets."
And, as the entire industry learned in SC6, appealing to the FGC, the "professional appearance of the genre," and anyone who hates the tiddies was a mistake compared to just shamelessly pandering to what people know and want from you.
Do you mean DOA6? I thought the only problem in SC6 was the cancerous RPS mechanics and too much focus on meter. When I think T&A in modern fighting games I pretty much think SC6 - KOF tries but those models, man...
SC6 was the proof of SC5's failure. When it came out to pretty roaring applause, though not without fault, it proved that "mechanical depth" was always worth less than fanservice. Both from T&A and just your favorite characters.
archives: old design, new design, old pronoun (he), new pronoun (they), english VA
A literal who the fuck is this.
what the fuck is that?
Huh, and from the trailer, I thought it was just Matt Mercer. Guess not.
I can only imagine the nightmare that would be how they go about a Strive-era Bridget. Whose background includes AFFIRMING HE IS A MAN AMONG MEN.
They'll just ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist or it doesn't matter.
This is terrible.
My favorite game of all time is an Arcsystem works game: Dragonball FighterZ.
I wouldn’t worry about it. They only take fighters from the old or new DB series. Toriyama would have to design a wokie himself and I don’t see that happening.
Especially with how Android 21 was designed.
Android 21 has a great design.
She reminds me of Makise Kurisu.
Also, Android 21 is supposed to be Dr. Gero's wife in the lore, now Krillin is not the only ugly guy in the show who gets a hot Android waifu.
This is brilliant.
Spread that term. Use it everywhere.
Never underestimate the power of having a single word that encompasses a concept you previously needed a whole paragraph to convey.
Im glad I pirated this shit.
I don't know enough about Guilty Gear's lore to know how significant this is in context, but did they think twice about the implications of doing this to a surgically modified transhuman character?
Losing manpower.
