Why make these statements at all? If it's worth saying, make it a theme in a game. As it stands, this political signaling is only limiting your market.
On a completely principled stance, its still shoving politics in games where they don't belong.
But, it seems nearly every game has had some forced Pandemic announcement during these years (and not shoved in the middle of patch notes, just a general broadcast) Same with almost all of them making some noise about Ukraine.
So until the playing field is leveled where its uncommon to see any statement like this, its only necessary to balance the scales by presenting an alternative opinion. And the guy seems to know it would ruffle a lot of feathers, so he likely knows it will limit him and accepted the risk.

Honestly, its time we gave up our neutral stance on politics in media, since they clearly will never stop trying to indoctrinate everyone.
Its only allowed them to constantly shift the overton window further left.
