Even if countries like Germany or Spain start putting more money into their armed forces, all that's going to happen is that every military object will end up with a brand new dilation station.
I doubt we would get that combination. Mostly likely, they would let US continue to take the lead if they keep their military gayed up like that. Basically, it's probably going to be:
They have to be filled with delusion to think that Sweden is a prime Russian target. Between Sweden and Russia there's either a sea or a country who's entire conscription military exists to make Russia not waste the effort. They'd attack NATO before they attack Sweden, at which point they'd have their hands full and Sweden wouldn't even be an afterthought.
Sweden doesn't need to be worried yet. Russia's M.O. is to "protect" Russian minorities who are allegedly mistreated in neighboring countries. If the current invasion goes Russia's way, I'd put money on Russia recognizing Transnistria's independence next (they have a Russian plurality of ~30%) and using the same tactics they're using now in Moldova.
And give up paying rapefugees' rent for them?
Fat chance.
It's possible. I wouldn't trust American leadership of it if I were European.

US + gay
or
No US + straight
rather than a weird mix of the two.
I wouldn’t trust any government body to do what’s right for their people let alone multiple government bodies collectively doing something right

They've been making military provocations against Sweden too (from the Kalinigrad enclave) because just why not I guess.

The why not part I get for sure. Or I guess to discourage them from joining NATO. Which seems to be having to opposite effect.

Both Sweden and Finland are now going to consider joining NATO.
Putin on the TV today talking about "the need to return to international cooperation" looked the most nervous I've ever seen him, by far.

It's not at all as he speaks normally and reminded me of this infamous "American debate champions" video from a decade ago.

They should be worried. And the polls seems to indicate their worries are increasing by the day(figure of speech, for the autists reading this).
If Putin is smart he will steal his master's blackmail and turn the tables on them.
It's almost like this was...all planned.
