Mine too. I'd always wanted to do at least 1 term. Part thinking everyone who could should be in for at least a few years, part wanting to contine a family tradition that would hopefully go on when I had children of my own, and their children, and so on and so forth.
People don't know how bad it really is. For a while under Trump the army was offering $250k signing bonuses for anyone with a combat deployment who had left the military and wanted to come back in.
We don't have shit like you do. Neither do the French, for example.
Or Ukrainians, for that matter, but their military is a mess for other reasons. Except the "literal Nazis" (nationalist volunteer formations) that are largely crowdfunded and/or sponsored by the oligarchs and not by the state, so they have their shit together just enough (but for a limited war only).
The Polish response to the conventional war next door was announced just now, not involving any "aut-right drafted and going to war" complete nonsense of course: 2.5% GDP for defense in 2026, voluntary 1 year service for active reserve. Goal of 250,000 active regulars and 50,000 Territorial Defense. Weapons from America.
