I'm sure Gofundme will have some legalese buried in their TOS that makes this legit somehow. Canadian courts sure as fuck aren't going to do anything about it.

If they put that you owed them your first born in their tos and you signed it, it doesn’t make it legal

It doesn’t make it legal according to the fundamental rules and universal shared understanding of contracts (and basic logic) going back to the dawn of civilization, but it DOES make it legal the way modern American law works. Clown law has been the way of the courts for decades now.

I believe GFM is headquartered in San Francisco. California operates under US law.

California operates under 9th Circuit "law", but in any case, any class action against gofundme for this action would have to be filed in Canada, because that's where the majority of the donors are who just had their money stolen.
