They're also frequently pushing sexist and racist "charities". For example all their regular game bundles are currently pushing a women-only charity called buildon.
I stopped buying from them a long time ago because of this shit.
I was thinking Steam Deck might push some Linux support, who knows.
It sounds like it will use a compatibility layer, and I’m expecting that said layer will likely be tied to Steam such that you can’t just run a non-Steam copy of a game using it even if it’s perfectly playable through Steam. I hope I’m wrong.
Gaming devs have become as obsessed with their DRM as they are the woke.
Humble says the subscription games themselves will still be DRM-free. Of course such a statement from people of the moral quality of Humble is worth jack shit in the long run.
Humble does already sell titles with DRM you have to redeem on other platforms, so perhaps they want to move those over eventually and cut them out of the revenue loop.
Aren't a large number of game available to Linux through Steam? It seems to me like Valve has been pushing Linux already. As far as being tied to Steam, well, yeah they're trying to sell a console where this is the norm (buying from a Company store). Supposedly the Steam deck is going to be hackable, in which case you can install whatever OS you want on it and get games through whatever channel.
I think you can use it with 'any' game as its another project that was built upon, but thats just a guess, I would hope gaben wouldnt be a jackass like that, its not like them to push exclusivity clauses and such. I hope not.

Steam deck uses Proton to provide compatibly to non Linux games. You can use Proton with non Steam games. You can install non Steam games on the Steam Deck.
Macs are surprisingly popular for gaming. I guess because people have them anyways, and they just want to play a game without bothering to install a different OS or buy another computer. Obviously they are not popular with game-ers , but they are some of the most common hardware out there and probably will comprise a large percentage of laptops with discrete GPUs shipping in the near future.
I work in the industry and have access to a lot of sales data.
I don't know GoG offhand, but basically nobody buys Steam games on Mac or Linux even just looking at games available on those platforms. Mac is better than nothing but still pretty bad, and lower than just it's market share. Linux is basically a rounding error.
Linus managed to completely uninstall his desktop enviroment because he couldn't read the line of text that said "don't do this unless you know what you're doing!"
He also said that if all you care about is writing word documents and browsing boomerbook, you could rice Linux to look like Windows and never know the difference.
Also, if you're playing games on PC, regardless of OS, you should be used to having to look up shit, tweak files, and fix issues. You should be used to be treated like a second class.
I'm not going to say that Linux is perfect and ready for the "mainstream". But the reality is that some people are too fucking stupid to make mashed potatoes.
Reminder that they ran a bundle to support BLM-related causes and stated support for BLM itself last year.

Just what everyone wants yet another launcher. Yeah, there's probably already one I haven't used their service before.

I remember the humble origin bundle...

Fortunately I don't think I've ever downloaded anything from Humble itself. Everything from one of their bundles has been a Steam key.
#MeToo
Humble about their abortions.
hmmmmmmmmm
Those 5 people must be downloading hard rn
Why waste money on things people don't use?
What next, starting to make games that work on Vista?
Your galaxy brain takes are like a Swiss watch. Bravo.

Humble knows that Linux users pay more for bundles.
